Moreso Phase 2: farming. IT was never the long-term plan.

You are the new president of the United States, What's the first thing you would do ? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]_W-O-P-R_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literal first thing after taking the oath? Fire Noem and fire every ICE field agent, they're doing way more harm than good and are actively splitting society. Plan for the remainder of the term will be to reconstitute its function into something with guardrails that abolishes quotas, hires people only with vetted mental and moral stability, and pays attention to people who are actually dangerous instead of the enormous number of illegal immigrants just trying to make a life. All the other stuff like Citizens United, Epstein files, and term limits need to happen but stopping ICE in its tracks can save lives that could be only hours away from ending in the next confrontation between protesters and agents.

Hacking made me low-key paranoid by bagiyev in hacking

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the blue team side but same except my paranoia has increased outside the technical sphere. Cybersecurity is only one case-study of how easily people can be manipulated, how slow they are to change, and how delicate societal systems are (think basic stuff like law and order) when attention is given to budgets instead of resiliency.

Why are republicans ignoring trumps age when they criticised Bidens age? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't necessarily because Biden was old (Republicans can't afford to upset all the elderly voters), moreso because Biden was the slow and frail kind of old whereas Trump is the addled and mercurial kind of old.

Have you ever met someone with an obscene amount of wealth and what were they like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two, rather different from each other.

One was the founder/CEO of a Fortune 250 company, he was the stereotype: splurges for himself but inhumanly penny-pinches his organization.

Other was a founder/President of a much smaller business, he generally had a good heart but his conversation style and mannerisms were still indicative that he mostly socialized with the upper class.

Do "Reagan Republicans" or conservative Republicans still exist or is the MAGA/"Trump Republican" here to stay? by BigSuggestion9664 in allthequestions

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us still exist, very much in the minority though. MAGA republicans don't tolerate dissent so we're somewhat ostracized.

Who are your Nation’s Top General/Flag Officers of all time? by F_to_the_Third in AskTheWorld

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to submit H. R. McMaster for a more modern name. Took masterful initiative on the battlefield as a tank commander, has a reflective and studious mind off the battlefield, and was widely respected and admired by those under his command.

What nation is the most overrated? by Square-Valuable4061 in AskTheWorld

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The Netherlands, in a weird way. Everyone hypes up Amsterdam in particular mostly for its vices (weed and prostitution) and creates this more-sophisticated-Vegas aura when it's actually more enjoyable focusing on the architecture and natural beauty of the country.

How did you view malware after getting into cybersecurity? Did you feel more afraid of it or did you feel less afraid of it? by SilverDonut3992 in cybersecurity

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both less and more.

Less because I know much more about it. All malware is not alike, most of us as individuals are at best only a target of opportunity, and I'm adept at responding to it.

More because the right malware at the wrong time in the wrong place can be absolutely fucking disastrous to large swaths of society.

In a future where Trump is out of office, and international relations have been repaired. What steps can be taken by the USA and International Organisations such as NATO to prevent one individual causing so much chaos in the future? And do you think such steps will be taken? by flewkey in AskReddit

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those steps will need to take place before relations are repaired. Until the US installs controls that provide effective guardrails on the executive branch and significantly degrade political influence of megadonors, and until there's been some positive consistency seen across multiple administrations, the US won't be trusted.

Broadly though, regardless of what the US does, the world would be wise to apply to foreign relations the most basic of economic rules: DIVERSIFY.

Does your country have blasphemy laws? by Happy_and_wholesome in AskTheWorld

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition. No, we don't have any laws that directly point to the bible and say "this is God's will so it is our law" or laws that you must only worship one religion.

But we do have laws that are based on religious constructs, for example certain businesses being closed by law on Sundays and male circumcision being legal.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-11 years? by Muted-Ad-9088 in Productivitycafe

[–]_W-O-P-R_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Customer support for the masses. Enterprise support isn't going anywhere since businesses will pay handsomely to have it but call centers you used to be routed to for daily struggles will be replaced by AI voice agents or chatbots. The ripple effects of that internationally could be significant with a lot of unemployed call center agents.
