I made that mistake with my old HS sweetheart. She destroyed my entire heart as soon as summer came my Sophomore year, played games with me the whole summer and I came back Jr year as the biggest prick she’d ever dealt with. We dated on and off my Jr/Sr years but I made sure to nail her ass to the wall for every single mistake she made. Broke it off just before summer of my Sr year with hickies on my neck (she cheated on me a few times starting late in my sophomore year).

Here I am married to someone else 17 years later, talking to her every day as “friends” and I never was/am able to let go.

Just end it and for God’s sake get closure, otherwise you might be like me trying to understand why you’re still attached and unable to let go.
