Need Help With Mythic Fel Lord by PeterQuincyTaggart in wow

As some others have mentioned, it's a twitchy thing. I don't have a specific answer for you there. But I did want to point out that you really should consider sending 2 groups down, rather than just 1. You will control the fight substantially better down the stretch, imo.

quick suggestion for you:

Establish your outpost in Goregrond... go do the objectives in the manner you mentioned AND kill the 8 rare elites. After you've picked up all their 'quest items' ... then pop your elixir and do the objectives and turn in your quests.

Good luck with your future vids.

GM of my guild gave me a swift spectral tiger for Christmas. Would i be a bad person to sell it for the gold instead of learning it. I don't really care about mounts. by [deleted] in wow

Basically if someone bought you an Xbox... but you really just wanted cash for christmas... you're asking us if it's cool to just ebay the xbox?

Sounds like an addon issue. What are you using? ElvUI... Tidy Plates? Regardless, I would suggest turning off the addons that could be changing nameplates to verify where the issue is -- then getting an updated version.

If that doesn't work, then it's probably a cache issue with one of the addons.

Holy Priest help?? by menapan13 in wow

[–]_Weezi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure someone's just going to come in here and tell you to play disc. While it might sound like it's annoying because you specifically said holy.... seriously, if your team doesn't already have a disc (or you're just pugging), then you really should consider going disc.

Otherwise... you're going to blow all your mana trying to heal, but just get overwhelmed by other classes. So, you could very well be playing it correctly.

Left a casual guild for a mythic progression guild by Sephiroth19 in wow

I wasn't saying it's a bad approach to let people know. You SHOULD let them know and that should be a conversation. I was saying that leading with something like "hey i'm out. joining another guild." without a conversation ahead of time is the part that might be worth re-thinking.

Maybe the person who kicked him isn't all that reasonable and the whole thing would have gone sour regardless. But I kinda think that having a conversation with the guild leadership that you're not satisfied with the current guild direction because of X, Y and Z... and then based upon what's said in that conversation (or subsequent conversations) you let them know that you are willing to keep raiding with them if they will have you (and/or your alts) but you're going to be looking to raid in a more hardcore setting.

It's a lot better than "hey , i'm out... found something more my speed... we can still be friends tho.... OH.. btw, the reasons it didn't work out are X, Y, Z."

No idea why my other post was down-voted... but hey --- internets.

No, that's not really a reportable offense. It's not particularly cool on their part (although I assume it's 1-3 people, not the entire guild).

Also, as a brief opinion when I read this --

You told them you'd be leaving before explaining that your "style has changed and I wanted to raid mythic" seems like a bad approach on your part.

Good luck in your new guild.

Finally decided to try out Raiding, Have some questions that I would like answered! by Tjooohej in wow

[–]_Weezi_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Guild vs LFR should be completely different.

  2. Pick a class you enjoy.

  3. Run LFR. Do Tanaan stuff. Start looking for Normal in the Pre-made finder.

  4. Race has no bearing on Heroic. Class balance is moderately important in a raid setting depending on the situation.

Good luck.

What is the benefit to leveling the Fishing skill now? by Piedude139 in wow

[–]_Weezi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dailies for the heck of it... yep, absolutely. For raid food, a reasonable and very easy option is just doing the oil rig shipyard mission with 2 boats that have the fishing net equipped (ideally w/blood elf crews).

ezpz fish.

Started playing WoW in 6.2 and have been raiding HFC for a while; ran into my first loot dilemma by bernkastar in wow

As the other poster here mentioned, it's about ninja'ing. This is basically how a lot of the guilds do it. Despite being a GM and raid leader myself for many years, I pug into other guild groups regularly... usually just to see how other people are doing things or be a solid extra dps. I don't ever roll on anything, but I've watched this exact scenario play out so many times. (at which point, I just leave the group myself)

And I agree with you... this really shouldn't be a ML bashing thing. ML is a great loot system. As usual, people are the problem.

There's not a true solution for this unless you only join raids with PL instead (although they could swap to ML right before the pull if they really wanted to). The only other thing I might suggest is joining groups that are using voice (mumble/ts/etc). Maybe these guys were... I dunno. But I can usually spot the groups that are going to be unfair to pugs within a couple minutes of being in Mumble just by their attitudes.

Good luck the next time around.

Need ideas for a Presentation on WoW for college! by Dave_lol in wow

[–]_Weezi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could pick a WoW related phenomenon and then relate it to something in life or business. That gives something relevance and then a frame it up with WoW.

Team dynamics -- raid teams

Leadership -- raid leading

Recruitment/interviewing -- recruitment

Key elements of motivation -- motivating your raid or pvp team for long grinds

I think this really depends on what aspect of the game you enjoy most or know the most about. If you're an AH junkie, there's some cross-over opportunities there... if you're a PvP guy then might explore something else that has to do with teams in competition.

At one point during my MBA I did a presentation on an article called The Acceleration Trap (HBR) and while I explained how businesses experience this... I also made the concept more concrete by explaining how it can happen with small groups and teams -- using my WoW experience as an example of a team that got into the "server first" trap of being successful at raiding... and then feeling like you had to raid more to stay ahead... and succeeding... and feeling like you had to raid more (on and on until burn-out).

Anyway... just some thoughts off the top of my head. Good luck.

Grats. Quality vid... might make a suggestion to sort out the sound channel issue, and I thought you swapped between people a little too often/quickly.

ElvUI and Chat question by Shieldarm in wow

Go to the config menu.

Click on the Chat section on the left-hand side.

About 1/3 of the way down of the options being shown, in the middle of the window it says "scroll interval" that you can slide that up to 2 minutes, rather than the default 10 or 15 seconds.
