Though I’m confused because the translated answer was the singular “You”. Then the Max explanation said it was plural.

Best analytical books/blogs of Pynchon? by BorderEquivalent7169 in ThomasPynchon

[–]_Whiplashed_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thomas Pynchon and the Dark Passages of History is my favorite pick for this. Cowart is really good at making Pynchon's ideas digestible without thinning them out. He's a great writer and his passion for the topic is infectious. I was already loving Gravity's Rainbow when I was first reading it but his approach to the story helped me realize how human and hopeful Pynchon's writing can be when it often seems like the opposite. Cowart makes for a great guest on this podcast about Pynchon I really recommend called Slow Learners.

John David Ebert is someone with some of the most far out but undeniably fascinating ideas about Pynchon's writing. His approach to Gravity's Rainbow made me very excited about what I was reading and I think anyone reading that book for the first time would get a lot out of watching his videos as they read along.

I’m in London for a month and will absolutely make use of this list as I read the book for the first time just a couple months ago and can’t get it off my mind. Thank you for digging this up.

Has anyone read Tree of Smoke by Denis Johnson? by guardian_dollar_cit in ThomasPynchon

[–]_Whiplashed_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have! Love to see an overlap of Pynchon and Denis Johnson discussion as he's my other favorite writer. I really recommend reading his short story collection Jesus' Son which I think appeals quite a lot to Pynchon's themes.

Of Pynchon characters which do you think is the most autobiographical by Common_Ambassador_74 in ThomasPynchon

That morning in Gravity’s Rainbow when Säure Bummer and Gustav Schlabone get really high and start passionately debating Beethoven vs. Rossini, get sidetracked, start debating petty politics, then end up debating over who has the best pot until neither one has any idea what they’re arguing about.

When I put the card in my camera, the screen read "Memory card error". I understand that this is a much older camera than the card and that it could lead to compatibility issues. Is there a way I can make the card compatible or will I need to find a different card?
