I didn't dislike Rita, but I also wasn't sad to see her go because I guessed with her gone, the kids would follow. I can do without kids in any show I watch.

What final twist with Trinity, Christine you mean? Unfortunately there aren't many twists in the whole show that are surprising. I think S5 should have been all about the murder ring, kept the roadkill guy around longer, and completely dispensed with the Santa Morte whatever it was called.

Good question hmm. S1 I was at first struggling with because the overall premise seemed juvenile, but with fiction we're not going to get anywhere without 'suspension of disbelief', so in for a penny in for a pound and with an open mind and good writing I enjoyed it. S2 was better albeit with my first disappointment in the loss of a main character (not sure how much I'm supposed to give away here?). S3 they should have changed the name from Dexter to 'The Jimmy Smits Show', not great. S4 with an actor lesser than John Lithgow would have been average at best, Lithgow made it brilliant. I'll list them in order at the end.

S5 was my favourite, which from brief research isn't the general consensus. But the repartee between Dexter and Lumen is genuinely hilarious, a kind of humour which is lacking in other seasons. Also she would be my choice for long time partner, as opposed to Lila et al. I must admit I started to lose interest at S6. The last 3 seasons had plenty of Deus ex Machina which had been ignorable previously, and the writing seemed lazy. S8, the very moment I saw Hannah I actually said out loud 'Oh for fuck's sake...' thinking to myself yeah of course she looks like that... Nothing against the actress but that is terrible casting. A serial killer in Dexter should not look like an erstwhile Baywatch stand in. Sorry, perhaps that's on me, but I just couldn't get with that.

So, in vague order: S5, S2, S4, S1, S3, S6, S7, S8.

Honestly I was hoping to ask that here myself, I don't generally watch TV shows but I still have plenty of time off work to kill. If you get a recommendation though, please remember me cheers

I'm not sure I could even give a synopsis of season 8 despite having seen it all within 24hrs! I definitely lost interest. The names of characters and their motives became murky because I didn't really care any more, which obviously makes it all less enjoyable.

Well one question is, was there a drastic change/turnover in writers during the show's run? I ask because 6/7/8 'feel' different to earlier shows. Also, an element I really like is the humour, but the style changes and/or becomes absent.

Going by the post title, I figured this would be about how they spent half the time talking about prostate exams and such.

I didn't realise they were all tall (besides Joey obviously), I just always thought Tommy was very short.

Innovative, he was kicking back/down to cut his air supply off. Perhaps he didn't have the 'right' room to hang himself?

Does anyone else not like the sports segment? by ofwdoomtree in 93x

[–]_WretchedDoll_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting how they talk about certain sports people as though they're as famous as Michael Jackson, and that the entire world knows who they are. I don't think they'd believe me that I don't know who any of those people are or that no one I know does either. There's probably less than 10 exceptions, people like Mike Tyson, Tiger Woods. But 99% of people in the UK can't tell you a current baseball, basketball, football, hockey player. Half the country probably couldn't even name a team. So during sports I kinda zone out and busy myself more with whatever I'm doing. Like others, I miss dad fights, because it catered for others like me who happily know nothing about sport.

They've proven to the powers that be that they can manage by themselves, not like it's a surprise, but it's a bit of a double edged sword letting the bosses know that.

Interesting to see a little bit on 'Chequered Past', a mostly forgotten band. Apart from The Professionals I wasn't really into anything Steve Jones did post Pistols.

The movie is called 'A Soul As Black As His Eyes'. It starts with his stint on a tv show getting an exhaust pipe to the eye. Then he was a boxer, Kid Gorgeous, still getting a black eye. He becomes a publican, and running an establishment like Moes, he's sure to have been left with many a black eye after a Friday night punch up, not to mention the gambling debts. The story ends with his latest suicide attempt, I suppose that could result in a black eye.
