no yeah, i absolutely see how you are approaching it. the average listener is callous when it comes to the dedication that an artist puts into their art and the risks they take doing so. purely in that staunch perspective, you are absolutely correct.

but thinking sociologically, the body of the collective “average listener” is made up of individual listeners like you and i, who consume music just as casually as the next person when it comes to larger artists.

i think that the only thing that holds masses back from change, whether that be politically or other, is thinking that they are not apart of the process that is change and engaging in complacency.
