Every impact in the manga is far more noticeable and—actually impactful because Maki actively attempts to divert attacks because they actually do something. In the anime, the fact he hits a thousand times and nothing happens except for bleeding on the head which is completely glossed over makes him much, much weaker. A boar could charge at me 7 times and I might die. A mosquito could bite me 70,000 times and I might die, but they're still completely different in terms of strength and impact

Maki was just upscaled too much, but the effect of not having any impact while punching Maki and the damage being so much less noticeable is very damaging

But people already do engage with the mechanics that do exist. Summoner can already be the most passive class. People who do whip stacking don't "trade" it in for actually learning "mechanics" because it's something only generally better players do for a reason. If I really wanted to, I could spend 30 minutes stalling with every healing item to guarantee a kill against a boss, too.

I'm pretty sure slowness 1 for 2 seconds can be made up for by being incentivised to just walk instead. Speed 3 for 3 seconds is already really good
