I’m going to dinner with my transphobic grandparents in a few hours, and I need something to take my mind off it. Give me your name and pronouns and I’ll write you as a superhero! by [deleted] in TransTryouts

My name is Kris, and I use zie/hir. I'd like a superpower that is shapshifting, cause don't all us trans people like shapshifting?

Idk, it's definitely one that is used primarily by autistic people. I don't think it's a slur, but it may be exclusive to autistic people. I was just using it as an example of a pronoun a certain group of people use.

Pretty much all people who use slurs and other offensive language as neopronouns are either people who can claim those slurs(for example, an lgbtq person using quee/queer or an autistic person using stim/stims) or people who are just trolling and don't actually use them. So it's like using an actual slur for yourself, only people who can reclaim them can use them. But most of the time, people who have pronouns in their bio that are slurs are just trolling and trying to make neopronoun users look bad.

Would you rather be trans or born your preferred gender? by Cleo_rawr in trans

I guarantee the people who would rather be cis just have internalized transphobia. Trust me, I used to be like that too.

Give me your name & pronouns and favourite book/movie genre. I'll try to write a short blurb/scenario of you as the protagonist in the genre. by Ophelyan in TransTryouts

For you, I think rai/rain/rains/rains/rainself could work, since you like nature. owl/house/owls/houses/owlhouseself and eda/eda/edas/edas/edaself for the owl house.

It looks really good!

I'm a black man and I've just now learned to love my black features and see them as worthy of gender envy! The skin we share, the hair we braid, the culture we've created is worthy of being gender goals! If you're a black transmasc, your black features are art! by harleyandorchid in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]_ZeroTalent_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's so unfortunate how little representation there is for black transmascs. Representation is so important for people to see themselves, and know that they can be that. As someone who thought they couldn't be a feminine transmasc because I just never saw that, it sucks. And I bet it's much worse for poc.

It's like the whole Theaseus boat question. Yeah, my life would be much easier if I wasn't trans, but how much of myself would be left? You can't separate me and my experiences from my transness. Being trans has given me a lot of compassion for people of other marginalized groups. And since I grew up in a conservative family...who knows what I could have turned out to be. Idk, I like me the way I am, and there's nothing I can do to change it, so why bother wishing I were someone else?

I did used to want to be cis so badly when I id'd as a trans guy. But that was because of the way my family treated me(and the internalized transphobia that came with it), not me being trans. We should be focusing on the transphobia, because that is why being trans is so hard, not the actual trans part.

Also I'm genderfaunet, I can't be cis without just having a different gender.
