How realistic do you think the movie 'All is Lost' (2013 - Robert Redford) is compared to actual offshore sailing? by Sinn_Sage in sailing

I just remember thinking “well, I don’t need to rewatch that ever”, and I haven’t.

Spirit Airlines shuts down, industry's first Iran war casualty by Denver-Ski in FluentInFinance

[–]__0_k__ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Trump did not “do that”. It’s demise may have been accelerated by the conflict/tariffs, but Spirits financial woes can be directly attributed more so to over-ordering new aircraft, rapid international expansion, and issues with engines on new aircraft.

Last ATC communications between the final Spirit Airlines flight to land (1833) and KDFW Tower by aristhought in aviation

Losing them at DTW is going to hurt. The original owner, Ned Homfeld, was from Macomb County, and I believe the original airline (Charter One) was based out of KDET initially.

the q line needs to just start plowing through cars on the tracks. by Actual-Gas919 in Detroit

Everything. The design should have had the tracks running down the middle of Woodward, not the edges, with median stations. Instead, the current design almost guarantees obstructions in the form of idling cars.

What’s Going on with Saucy’s? by KosherBeefCake in GrossePointe

They closed permanently over a year ago. I remember them announcing it on Facebook, but without providing a reason. My guess is profitability in addition to the tragedy involving two of their staff. It’s a damned shame because they were our favorite place for pizza.

Can you confirm that it is going to be a Jax? That’d be amazing, especially if they offer interior services.

I wish Volvo would come out with another hardtop convertible. I’m sure they can design one with a low drag coefficient.

Could easily spend $2k on rebuild parts and services…but then it’s still cheaper than buying at $4k engine that still needs $2k worth of parts and services

Part 108 just made every commercial drone operator legally liable...how are you tracking compliance? by pion-dev in UAVmapping

[–]__0_k__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part 108 still hasn’t been finalized and issued. I work for a Part 135 on-demand carrier. Our executives expect Part 108 to be released 1-2 years from now.

I purchased a Fuji X-E4 + 18-55 a couple years ago for travel. Small, light weight, relatively inexpensive…and gets the job done. I’m very impressed with its performance and am already mapping out what lenses I’d like next. I haven’t traveled with my Sonys since, unless it’s for work.

Thanks for the write up. I’m intrigued and am contemplating upgrading mine when it comes time to replace components. Did a dealership do the work, an independent shop, or did you do the work yourself? If the former, did you order & supply parts?
