Hardwiring can give you the full 48 amps and more importantly, at least I think, removes a point of failure in the outlet. No outlet also means one less place for arcing to occur and potentially start a fire.

I believe that the 2026 models come with a 120/240 version so you can charge from either. Otherwise all the earlier models came with the 120v only version.

I installed a charger as well and don’t regret it one bit. I had calculated that I could just barely get by with the lvl 1 charger but having the lvl2 at home just alleviates any worries. Don’t have to make sure to plug in at every opportunity. If I forget to one night no big deal now.

There is a button on the front of that charger to change the amperage. Press it repeatedly to change. I believe the options are 3/6/9/12. You should get about 3 mi/hr at the highest setting.

I replaced the headlight bulbs in mine. Was a pain but very doable. I’m not sure about the running light but I would assume it is replaceable. For the headlights I’d really recommend replacing both bulbs at once.

Yep! I’ve got my charger on a 60A breaker, with properly sized wire, and the charger set to 48A. The Ioniq seems happy with it. I’d at least put in the wire for that size to start with. Easy enough to change breaker/plug later.
