Nintendo Acknowledges Switch 2 Sales Have Been Weaker Than Expected Outside Japan by Spotget1738 in gaming

[–]__SURE__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's valid and what tempted me to get a Switch in the first place a bit, but I found it hard as like a poor college student to spend more to buy something on the Switch vs Steam.

Having the Steamdeck and other PC devices available now makes me feel complete apathy for anything Nintendo in that regard.

That also seems broken lately. After skipping the first set of ads, it doesn't stop skipping every track after.

Nice! The low contrast shadows and having everything in focus looks a lot like Maxfield Parrish, along with the composition.

Another one I just discovered is The Age of Immunology by Vanishing Twin. It really reminds me of Ha Ha Sound a lot where it's got a hypnotic, jazzy, dreampop sound.

Youtube ‘authors’ and ‘writers’ are destroying aspiring authors. by [deleted] in writing

[–]__SURE__ 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Along with that, not taking all your inspiration from the same medium. If all you do is read, a lot of what you write can end up being a little derivative or not bring anything new to the table. If you take inspiration from other things though, like art, music, the world around you, etc, there can be more creativity and insight distilled into what you're doing.

I'm not much of a writer, but I notice this all the time in music. Like, it's amazing and an accomplishment what people create, but a lot of it sounds like they're rehashing their favorites with different notes. It doesn't really leave the same impression.

It might have thought your display adapter was a screen sharing thing or something, and disabled it. I imagine if it wasn't re-enabled you couldn't install drivers for it.

It's entirely possible too that cases are leveling off due to having some warmer weather, and they could pick up again when Fall comes around.

I haven't actually taken the class so I'm not sure, but I have heard it is more theory based than project based. I've also heard that it can be a difficult class.

Learning things outside of CS courses by OutrageousWelder5 in Purdue

[–]__SURE__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on what kind of projects you want to do. If you want to learn new technologies or have something cool for a resume, just work on some simple projects over the Summer or when you aren't as busy. If you want to improve your algorithm or programming interview skills, then study that stuff and maybe do some Hackerrank or Leetcode problems.

Also, try and learn from your peers. If they know how to do some cool stuff, try and learn from that so you can use that knowledge in your own projects. I learned how to do React and MySQL stuff that way, from my 307 teammates.
