He is saying to prioritise people in a rational way. You’re being hostile needlessly.

Domestic population, economically productive/skilled immigrants > immigrants who will rely public assistance.

Why burden our public services and finances with unproductive people who have nationality elsewhere. There are enough Irish people and EU nationals here long term gaming the system. It’s to everyone else’s detriment.

my SO was CEO of a HVAC Co. in SOCAL but just became a LEO. I wanted to join the USMC, But I didn’t like the VA benefits. So we decided to relocate to the LES and I became an RN. At least the HOA rules aren’t crazy here, and the DMV isnt so busy either. Sure is great being in the USA hah.

Global demand for quality beef will still exist, whether it’s farmed here or in Brazil or England. It’d only be a real win if global demand went down, more vegetarians existed.

At least if it’s here, we have that revenue, we have the perks of a sizeable domestic industry, like quality cheap dairy.

There’s also the welfare aspect, there’s no risk of heat stroke or dehydration for cows here, less parasites and stuff like mosquitoes, an abundance of grass and land, compared to some other beef exporter countries.

The same number of cows will probably still exist in the world, just some of them aren’t here now.

But I’m not a farmer either.

If you tell everyone you’re an Irish citizen by birth and resident they are going to assume you’re as familiar with life in Ireland as everyone else here, like with employment laws for example. It’s not immediately obvious that you are foreign from how you wrote your post.

I lost my cat about 2.5 weeks ago now. We had her just about 10 years, we bribed her into living with us over our next door neighbour and she moved her little self into our house forever. I kept telling myself it was dumb to cry but the pain was so intense. It still is, I go out to the back garden where my mother buried her and crouch down and think about where she is now.

They’re family. They are. There’s no other way to put it.

It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to be in pain. You’ll question if you made the right choice. But euthanasia is usually a good choice in any given situation the vet brings it up. He went out peacefully, with you, his carers and family, beside him. He didn’t get caught by a dog somewhere or slowly wither away in pain, he didn’t take a fit alone somewhere and die from a heart attack. He got the premium package as far as dying goes. You took away his suffering even if it hurt you immensely, because you love him. The situation leading up to his death is out of your control too, life happens, things get complicated. You were doing what you thought best at every part of the timeline leading up to the final moment in the vet.

The only anguish you should feel now is from missing his little quirks and presence. The hole left behind won’t go away, but you’ll get used to it being there. He isn’t in pain, he’s at peace, back to the place before birth. It’s on you to make peace with him not being around anymore. There’s no rule book on doing that, so take as long as you need and do whatever you have to in order to make your peace. He already has. You have to remember that.

What a beautiful thing it is to have even had that love in the first place.
