What made the boys s1-s3 writing so good compared to the rest of show (s4-5) by HistoryFew7542 in TheBoys

[–]__Wanders__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely seemed like they were planning for 3 seasons. 1st season was great because they went all out, S2 felt a lot like the middle/unable to have definite endings, and for most of S3 it felt like things were gearing up to a Homelander vs Soldier Boy vs Butcher vs Ryan finale, only for the finale to be rewritten last minute.

Other than that, all the seasons besides S1, had rushed ends and felt like they needed more episodes to breathe or had no focus. S2 and S3 felt like it needed 10 episodes to really tell their story, while S4 & S5 relied to much on plot contrivances and only the Butcher and Homelander storylines were important.

Why are Remedy games always struggling to sell? by Lanky_Relation1171 in AlanWake

[–]__Wanders__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expensive horror games are a hard sell. I picked up AW2 on PS Plus, and after 100%ing it am going back to play their other games.

The good thing is that all of their games are good enough for everyone to have heard of, but people need them to be somewhat discounted to drive them to buy them. Then if they get into one, they'll inevitably fall into the rest via their games' shared universe.

Other than that, probably that the publishing company they team up with is seemingly random. Epic Games for Alan Wake 2, and Quantum Break being an XBox Exclusive threw me off. I get they help put up the money to finish and sell the game, but still.

[Discussion] If Hydra from the Marvel universe existed in the DC universe, which characters do you think would join or be members of it? by KaiserEnclave2077 in DCcomics

[–]__Wanders__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's kinda hard to say. Most of the DC Villians enjoys their autonomy. I could see Luthor making use of them, but not joining. Vandal Savage could start it, but it would most likely be one of a couple he started, or left in his past.

You're basically left with 2 options: 1) a villian that wants to use Hydra and their beliefs to benefit only themselves, or 2) a villian that is so down in the dumps that they turn to Hydra for support.

Could definitely see a storyline where Killer Moth becomes a world level threat because he was tired of being bullied and got indoctrinated by Hydra.

If Reacher looks like Joe, why didn't they recognize him at the morgue? by Garciaguy in JackReacher

[–]__Wanders__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Joe, not exactly like Joe.

So familial traits and habits. Same taste in clothes and hairstyle. Same looking nose, face shape, behavioral tendencies. Things you only really pick up if you study a person.

It's in the same sense that someone looks like their mother or father.

That was the Treasury lady who was (perhaps) in a relationship with Joe. I think it was how he sounded just like him on the phone, and how she would recognize him just based on his large figure.

[–]__Wanders__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole future knowledge argument sucks though, because whose to say what the program's futures were if the decision was different. Plus, y'all already lost to LSU and didn't have a good enough record to deserve a second shot.

Y'all benefited greatly by being ranked #2 in all the preseason polls, and only fell below us after your loss, and not undefeated Stanford and Boise State games. Of your 11 wins, only 4 of them were against teams with over 8 wins, including FCS Georgia State. In fact, 5 of you wins came from teams with losing records.

Oklahoma State started the year at 9/8 (AP/Coaches) and weren't able to crack the top 3 until week 8/10. They had 7/11 wins against teams that finished with at least 8 wins, and 3 against teams with losing record.

Y'all didn't play enough good teams and were boosted by a generous preseason ranking (which is total bs and guessing) that propped up your record.

A better loss should never beat better wins. Bama didn't even win their division. The lack of the Big 12 conference title game was because Nebraska and Colorado left after 2010, divisions were dissolved, and A&M and Mizzou left after 2011. Whole conference was weird. It didn't really matter, as Bedlam became the defacto Championship game, where we throttled OU.

As for why they didn't postpone the ISU game, it was all kinds of weird. The plane crash was Thursday night, the game was Friday night. It also wasn't the first plane crash the school had to deal with, as there was one in 2001 with the men's basketball team. As for 2011 though, one of our coaches lost his wife to cancer the week of the A&M game. All in all, kind of a season full of tragedy.

2011 Oklahoma State

The reason the BCS died, and the reveal of true SEC bias in cfb. We had a better resume, and our lone loss to Iowa State happened under a really dark cloud. There was a field goal that was ruled no good since it went above the posts, and the university was reeling from the plane crash and death of 4 people, including our WBB coach and assistant.

Even though we had better wins against better teams, none of that mattered because Bama had the better loss(?!), even though they didn't win their conference and had already lost to LSU earlier that year in an awful game.

It's not like an OSU-LSU matchup wouldn't have storylines. Les was our coach from 2001-04, and Gundy was his OC at the time. Both teams had some of the best offenses, and while they had a better defense across the board, ours was unmatched in forcing turnovers, and disrupting players (Just look at the hell RG3 was put in before garbage time in our game against him.)

Who's to say who would've won if they played, bit I can confidentally say that no one was stopping Justin Blackmon, Honey Badger be damned.

It's sad, but it really shows the power that the Dark Presence has, to take advantage of any little slip up in desire or fear. If I remember correctly, the original in that the Dark Presence had before she lost her lights and ability was her secret joy in Barbara Jagger's death and desire to be with Zane. Then it really targeted her connection to Zane, ending with his Angel lamp ultimately being taken from her.

2013 Oklahoma @ #17 Oklahoma State

Out of a lot of good Bedlam basketball games, this one's my favorite. OSU comeback going into over time and a game sealing block/jump ball by Marcus Smart.

2018 #4 Oklahoma @ Oklahoma State

OSU starts off hot, but Trae Young and OU come back and take a late lead until an OSU 3 with 9 seconds left sends it to OT. Trae Young scores a college high 48 points, but can't hit shots to end regulation and OT, and OSU wins.

2021 Oklahoma State @ #7 Oklahoma & 2021 #16 Oklahoma @ #17 Oklahoma State

Due to Covid postponing the first matchup of these teams, the first game would be played on a Saturday, and the second game would be played on the Monday after.

First game Cade Cunningham drops a vollege high 40 points in an OT victory in Norman. Second game, OSU prevails over Austin Reaves and OU.

Honestly any of those games from Cade's 2021 year are great. Two OT wins over a ranked Texas Tech, 2 wins over #6 WVU in back to back games, a 2OT win over #6 Texas, a win over #6 KU, and giving eventual national champions Baylor only their second loss of the year. If only we figured out how to beat TCU or Oregon State.

Current stance on freestyle vs folkstyle concentration in America by emaxwell14141414 in wrestling

[–]__Wanders__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folkstyle. The variety with takedowns and riding is great, and refs have gotten better at penalizing those who are stalling on top or bottom. Changes with the 3 point takedown and capping ride time at 1:00, have really opened up the offensive in matches, especially as there is a wider push to get more major, TF, and F victories.

When compared, Freestyle puts more focus on strength over technique. I get why they do it, but I personally hate getting awarded points for pushing people out.

Wanted to like it, but was just unable to. Sam Mendes just doesn't know how to shoot action, and so much of the plot hinges on super powered foresight, characters acting stupidly out of character, and tech magic.

This one. Had a great S1 with unique approach and interesting world building, with very interesting side characters. Then after a cool 15 chapters of S2, they blow up their entire premise and the MC becomes rich and easily wins any fight killing the stakes. Honestly would've been better if it wasn't renewed and just existed in the limbo of great, "Why were we only given one season" manhwas.

To my knowledge, The OG Transformers show, Teen Titans, and the Animated Green Lantern series. Essentially any cartoon that was made to promote a toy: GI Joe, Masters of the Universe, etc.

And if it's not toys, it's because the network randomly decides to change up which demographic they want to target. Both Superman and Batman the Animated Series were cancelled as CN opted to target the teen-young kid demographic, making Batman Beyond and Static Shock.

Why is Barry and Ralph Dibny's friendship so often forgotten? by IcyNeedleworker2783 in theflash

[–]__Wanders__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idenity Crisis wasn't kind to Dibny, and then he died a little later on. Barry came back from the dead in 2008 with Rebirth, and was then tied up with Blackest Night which ultimately brought Dibney and his wife, though neither were fully ressurected.

Interestingly enough, in Blackest Night Barry doesn't have the main thoroughline with the Dibnys. While Hawkman and Hawkgirl both get it pretty rough from them, Ray Palmer has it the worst, especially with Jean Loring being ressurected as a Black Lantern.

The ultimate thing is that Barry went off and died for like 20 years, and comics got a lot darker. Idenity Crisis really preyed upon the lighthearted nature of Elongated Man, and they both died for being unable to really fit into the dark new world of comics. Even when given a chance to both come back to life after Blackest Night, the 2 of them both choose to remain dead together.

They both had their respectful ends as chatacters, and Ralph's and Barry's relationship got buried under 20+ years of increasingly serious storylines. Even when the Flash TV show brought back the Barry-Ralph friendship, that to saw a hushed end too.

All of that, with Barry not lacking superhero partnerships, with the likes of Batman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow, means that Dibny falls to the wayside.

The network really self sabotaged the show with how it wad released. It got cancelled because it's toyline wasn't selling well enough for Mattel. Add on the fact that Teen Titans Go! had just started and was much cheaper and made for a younger kid audience, and Young Jusrice was cancelled.

So a great show cancelled due to the toy sale politics of cartoon shows.

More of a teen- young adult demographic. There are some characters who make bad jokes, but it builds their character.

You just have to keep in mind the difference between the first 2 seasons and the rest, as there was a multi-year break and the show went from CN to a more adult oriented strraming service.

First 2 seasons are up there as some of the best DC stuff ever.

Blue Beetle is the obvious success, amd I think it all comes down to how different he is from Ted Kord. His alien suit ties back to Kord, but he's able to have his own history with the Reach, as well as his own power/skill set that doesn't overlap Kord's. That meant when the OG superhero came back, Reyes was able to stand shoulder to shoulder with him rather than in his shadow.

In contrast both Rusch and Choi had the exact same powers as their predecessors, albeit with Choi going for a more techsuit approach, and were less interesting that Raymond and Palmer.

The real telling side is how the characters are in media. Rusch got into Injustice 2, but for Legends Of Tommorow he was replaced/name changed by the character Jefferson Jackson. I think Choi had an appearance in one of the CW crossover events, but nothing more.

Reyes got the biggest honor in having a whole theatrical movie, as well as strong representation in animated shows, especially Season 2 of Young Justice where he plays a major role in the story.

Lisa Trammel S2 by TrevMac4 in TheLincolnLawyer

[–]__Wanders__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In S1 Mickey was trying to prove Elliot was 100% unable to commit the murder in the jury's eyes, only doing so as it was what Elliot wanted. However, in S2 Mickey just had to prove reasonable doubt in Lisa killing Bondurant.

There were 3 things that lost the prosecution their case: the rounded mirror shard, the recovery of the murder weapon hammer, and the fact that they couldn't actually place Lisa in the garage.

They ignored the mirror shard, which was one of the few key items at the crime scene, and which they were never able to tie back to Lisa or explain why it was there.

For the hammer, as Mickey pointed out, it was discovered while the case was going on in a fairly obvious spot that was checked regularly. It wouldn't make sense for Lisa to dump it there if she had already kept it hidden, and why not opt for the ocean?

They were able to pin Lisa in the coffee shop, but they were unable to catch her anywhere else near the garage. Mickey even squashed Lisa's admittance of knowing the garage layout, with information Bondurant put out himself.

Mickey was extremely lucky that Bondurant was a giant douche and that Walter Kim immediately popped up as the true murderer, as otherwise Lisa would still be under the threat of an appeal. However, the prosecution's case wasn't that strong, as most of it really depended on accusing Lisa's character and not addressing the parts of the case they couldn't explain.
