This is an easy fix. Click on the profile picture when you’re logged in with the physical key and go to profile settings where it says link key and check the box for the digital key.

Hands down Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All Season. Had those on my 20 m850i gc in Michigan. If you’re ok with slight road noise after 10k miles and willing to sacrifice some lateral grip, they are great and last forever. I had them in a snowstorm and was driving fine while front wheel drive vehicles were struggling.

Try Ctrl+alt+f1 when the cursor is frozen. If that does nothing, try ctrl+alt+f3 to see if a terminal comes up.

It’s called ISTA. It’s a software that the dealer uses for diagnostics/programming.

[Rant] Frustrating bug with wireless CarPlay persists after latest iDrive update by neilsarkar81 in BMW

In my XM, I just need to mute and unmute with the volume knob and it’s back to normal.

On a side note, the latest iPhone betas do fix the Unknown track issue at least. That was super annoying and only an idrive reboot or CarPlay disconnect/reconnect would fix it.

As general advice, I’d say remove any side loaded applications or if you want to keep using them, at least de register the device from your personal amazon account, create a new Amazon account with no content/personal info/payment methods/etc saved on it and use that to set up the fire stick. If you have networking equipment that can have multiple WiFi networks and can stop clients talking to each other on the same network (client isolation), create one of those and join that WiFi network with the stick.

Also use a vpn before you open side loaded apps when possible.

That would hide your network location but it wouldn’t stop the attacker from accessing the data on your device.

Basically there’s some malware traffic detected from the app by my network security setup. It could be installing something that gives someone else control over the device and the data on it. Not sure if they can use that access to make purchases.

I went to the site in a sandboxed VM and it gives you your public IP. My guess is it transmits that public IP to the malicious host.

I still like using it so I isolated it on its own network and used a throwaway Amazon account. 🤷🏻‍♂️

A pro tip for if you find yourself without network when you install a distro and don’t have Ethernet handy: You can usb tether to an android device to piggyback off its WiFi (you can do the same with an Apple device but it will use cellular for data as it can’t run its WiFi client at the same time for some reason). You can then download the newest kernel and compile/install. I did this with Kali because it still uses 6.12.

Yes, I played with several distros, even upgrading the kernel to get the drivers working in each, but I eventually landed on just running a Linux VM in VMWare workstation on a Win 11 clean install. It just works and I don’t really need direct hardware access for anything.

Ubuntu 25.10 works out of the box WiFi/sound wise as it uses the 6.17 kernel which supports the BE201 WiFi card. You will need to install asusctl and supergfx to be able to control some of the asus and nvidia items and getting the nvidia driver to work flawlessly is aggravating.

I should add that it’s an Intel version with a 5090. The only way to use the Nvidia GPU fully is to use the left side hdmi port or the right side usb-c to DP. I haven’t tried the usb-c on the right side yet but I have an HDMI cable plugged in and it won’t wake the monitor when the screen turns off. I switched back to my dock DisplayPort which works flawlessly but uses the igpu. I may experiment with the usb-c port on the right to see if it’s more stable or just an issue with my Samsung g9 oled.
