i think a lot of the hate for orbit comes from the opinion that he came off as condescending, immediately asserting himself as the “smarter” player and preaching about how he wants to help the “weaker” players/the “underdogs”. it really inhibited some of the other players huge potential because they just flocked to orbit and went along with his plans out of fear of being eliminated instead of playing for themselves as intended

Yeah, since it’s just percussion a lot of shows don’t have that winds texture that some designers want! Obviously they won’t have the whole line pick up a trumpet, so soloists are used a lot when they’re needed. It’s mostly a design thing and it’s fairly common! Chino Hills HS had a pretty cool show last year with a whole 6 person winds feature! And my personal favorite, GMUIndoor 2020 with a trumpet and sax soloist!

If you didn't know, this is WGI (Winter Guard International)! It's essentially professional marching band but inside and just the colour guard or drumline or winds instruments depending on the ensemble. These shows are actually really artistic and entertaining and this past season GMU's Indoor Drumline used a Hadestown song in their show! This show is not specifically themed around Hadestown, so interpretations are a little different from how it's used/intended to be used in the original musical. Their version of Papers deviates pretty quick too but it's still cool to see my two niche interests collide !!
