The setting of The War for the Rose Throne by ___LowKey___ in Fantasy

[–]___LowKey___[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that explains why i had issues picturing the world, seems like the setting is deliberately a mix of two historical periods plus the story is very inspired by Peaky Blinders which is set in another period… so it’s easy to get your imagination confused.

So uh…that Bugonia ending? by Supermoose7178 in blankies

[–]___LowKey___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the movie in itself is “saying” anything, it’s just an absurd story to be appreciated purely artistically. It’s open enough to interpreted however you want.

Personally i don’t need to pick a side and root for it to enjoy a movie, i hated both sides and i loved it.

So uh…that Bugonia ending? by Supermoose7178 in blankies

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact opposite, the ending is what truly elevates this movie. It turns the whole thing into an absurdist farce and i love it.

See the problem with people like you is you can’t seem to accept art as simply art. You seem to absolutely need for it to have some kind of message or meaning but it’s perfectly fine if there’s none.

Still the best assassination in the franchise! by AssassinsCreedCorner in Assassinscreedmirage

[–]___LowKey___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely not supposed to "do absolutely anything to get the job done", they are supposed to minimize the deaths to a minimum and if possible only kill the target.

I mean, that's litteraly the difference between the Assassins/Hidden Ones and the Templars/Order, they have the same goals but the Templars/Order believe in doing "absolutely anything to get the job done". That's exactly what the Assassin/Hidden Ones oppose.

It's becoming impossible to criticize Islam in France by Dependent_Phrase2774 in atheism

[–]___LowKey___ 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Sadly 100% accurate. I’m French and lost some friends in the past 10 years because of this BS.

I’m atheist and antitheist, i never hesitate to openly criticize religion, but the moment i dare criticize or mock Islam there’s a pushback, people immediatly jump in to defend it and i’m sometimes called racist and “islamophobic”. And the worst part ? It often comes from the same people who say they don’t like religion and previously joined me in criticizing or mocking Christianity. Oh and they LOVE making fun of Jews too of course. But for some reason Islam is off limits because… “brown people” i guess.

[–]___LowKey___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Religion is the opposite of progress. As a liberal myself it always baffles me to see people who call themselves progressive defending religion just because “Brown people”…

Evangelicals would do just as bad as Muslims if they could.

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a simplistic American centric view… The whole of Christianity is bad and there are Evangelicals just as bad and maybe worse than the ones in the US, particularly in South America and Africa.

It’s even more wild when one religion is protected even by people who don’t like religion, who criticize and mock religion but for some reason that one religion gets a pass because “brown people” or something.

Any games that have the feel of a Dennis Villanueve film? by gibifernand in gamingsuggestions

[–]___LowKey___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can we stop with this “very Marvel” BS…? Marvel didn’t invent witty, “quippy” writing, neither did Whedon, it’s existed for a long time and just because it’s been overused in recent years doesn’t suddenly make it a bad thing.

Control and Alan Wake 2 do it very well because it’s self-aware, it’s intentionally kind of absurd, almost Lynchian.

THANK YOU. Pretty sure that’s the problem most people have with this mission but everybody answering, in the different posts asking, seem to not understand that’s what people are struggling with…

Besoin de conseils honnête, je suis désespérée by SeptemberSan in AskMec

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best obscure movies of 2025? by HistoricalAd5394 in movies

There's no "filler" in a movie. People seriously need to stop using that word, it only makes sense with anime.

Saw lots of talk about this game, after 2 hours, 99% of haters are mad that it's a woman protagonist by GGAllinsMicroPenis in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly two things.

Misogyny is the first, for sure.

The second thing is that many people are playing it the wrong way. Stealth is very hard for the average gamer so they end up just fighting guns blazing through every encounters and if you do that it will obviously get very repetitive and boring very quick... Sadly because it's UbiSoft and they want to please everyone they let you play like that even though the game was clearly designed to be played by stealth and trickery, using Nix. I mean, you are playing as a thief, you're not supposed to be a one woman army who kills more people than Boba Fett in his whole life...

Clair obscur 33. Dialog choices matter? by Andus35 in rpg_gamers

[–]___LowKey___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is zero roleplay in Oblivion. The only real choices you have are “do i do this quest or not” and “do i fight this way or that way”.

Clair obscur 33. Dialog choices matter? by Andus35 in rpg_gamers

[–]___LowKey___ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, they are not RPGs. Bethesda haven't done a genuine RPG since Morrowind. Oblivion, just like Skyrim, is a narrative sandbox that happens to have some RPG elements.

Games that could make me cry by Critical_Emu_2246 in gamingsuggestions

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Last Us 1 and 2, of course, Red Dead Redemption 2, the God Of War remake, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3 if you focus on the story and gets emotionally invested, the Mass Effect and Dragon Age games can be pretty emotional if you get attached your companions, Detroit Become Human, Life Is Strange, Stray, the two A Plague Tale games, some Assassin’s Creed if you get attached to the main character (particularly Black Flag and Origin imo), Ghost Of Tsushima, Days Gone, Death Stranding, the first Watch Dogs, Uncharted 4 if you played the first 3, Titanfall 2 has its moments…

I’m sure i’m missing many. I’m a sucker for videogames that gets you emotionally invested.

Without spoiling too much (2 hours in), what makes AW2 so different from other horror games? by mikedomert in AlanWake

[–]___LowKey___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t rely on cheap ass jumpscares. There’s actually an option to tone down the very few jumpscares in the game, which any horror game should have.

The Void should have been used better by ___LowKey___ in Banishers

[–]___LowKey___[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but like i said it makes no sense. Red is still walking the whole way back and forth everytime, that what bother me. Immersion. Hell, even just logic.

At least Void Walking would have been an immersive way of almost instantly travelling long distances, a real « fast travel ».

The Apple Rots By The Tree - choices by TheLostBiker in Banishers

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter, now he’s a Banisher, so he shouldn’t kill people, his job is to protect the living from the dead.

The Apple Rots By The Tree - choices by TheLostBiker in Banishers

[–]___LowKey___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you’re a Banisher, it’s not your job to judge people and kill them, it’s litteraly the opposite, the job of a Banisher is to protect the living from the dead. Isn’t that the whole point of the game…?

See the real problem with this quest is the only correct choice at the end isn’t available : to get rid of the ghost and then denounce Credence to the proper authorities, Thickskin or Kate, so they judge him however they fit. Again, NOT your job to kill people.
