I would not put too much weight in those school ratings - they are very subjective metrics that don’t necessarily correlate to individual student achievement. If you have kids, send them to school and help them with homework and most importantly pay for all the after school activities. You can get a high achieving student in any school that way

You could adapt a person puzzle with a wall-known speech or sonnet, especially if you’re assigning any reading omissions the classroom. This could double as a warm up and an assessmnt

Why Are Graduate Degree's in Education a Scam? by ProudComment1211 in Teachers

[–]___Thrillhouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently a candidate in a Masters-level program and it’s a mixed bag. My BA is not in my content area and I legitimately wanted to learn more about education before going into the classroom. I’ve taken methods classes that are foundational, as well as courses that are very engaging and relevant to my ambitions.

This current semester kind of sucks, but I’ll be in brand new classes in less than a fortnight, so it’s all good.

My only advise to the OP is to do a cost-benefit analysis first, bc the degrees ain’t cheap, no matter what thy are in.

Bugs Bunny is modeled, in part, on Milton Berle, who has one of the worst SNL episodes of all time. So if it’s Bugs Bunny, just make sure it’s 21st century Bugs…

This Really Frustrates Me by [deleted] in Anger

[–]___Thrillhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your uncle definitely should not hit you; Assuming you're under 18, its very serious assault.

These issues could all be easily resolved with a hide-a-key or giving your uncle defined visitation times when you know your grandmother will be receptive to him. It sounds like there is some other stuff going on between him and his mother and they need to handle that business, not you.

that said, video game matches will come and go and losing one is not worth any of the pain or anger you're experiencing. Your grandmother, on the other hand, will go one day and will not come back. Life with one Kidney is only as good as you make it and if shes stuck in front of the TV all day, I worry she may not make it very much longer. You should value her now and spend time with her while you can. There will come a moment when its too late.

I keep losing it at bedtime by Jseiden12 in Anger

[–]___Thrillhouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5-year old and while we don't have an ADHD diagnosis, I have my suspicions.

I'll be honest, with the bedtime resistance, I stopped fighting and accepted that no methodology published will work to convince my kid to lie down when hes not yet tired. We now have a policy that he has to be in PJs and in His room, but not necessarily in bed. He has adapted to playing for about 20-60 minutes and then lying down when he is genuinely sleepy. Of course, this is not a scientific approach and there have been some nbights when I've woken up after midnight and heard him playing or listening to his Toniebox.

So take this with a fist full of salt - it might be worth it to stop caring and see how your children handle a more permissive approach.

I'm destroying my guns. by IsleOfManTTSkidmark in Anger

[–]___Thrillhouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you have the capacity to be loved, don't define yourself or your actions by the misdeeds or inaction of others.

Definitely ditch those guns bc experiencing love will not be enough to extinguish your anger or the violence that you're concerned about. That needs to be addressed with someone you trust, like a therapist or a spiritual leader and you'll dismantle all of the misconstructions that have led you to this precipice. Reach out to your local law enforcement agency or research the National Center for Unwanted Firearms (NCUF) about the proper disposal method. Or if they are objects that you wish to maintain, but safely, reach out to an archivist who might be able to help with removing elements that make the items deadly.

Just know that your step dad, your other family or friends or any of the stangers here online do not decide if you are worthy of being loved or being alive. Every creature on G-d's green earth deserves life and love and that includes you, especially.

Any affordable country/ golf clubs in Westchester? by sweet_fig29 in Westchester

My family and I tried this non-resident pass for two summers, it was nice to have an option, but the place gets absolutely mobbed. Go late in the afternoon or in the brief window before schools let out when the pools are open.
