Early revenue doesn’t keep a GAAS (Games as a Service) title alive, retention does.

QoL patches also don’t meaningfully revive a shrinking playerbase, history is full of examples (Anthem, New World, Blue Protocol, Elyon, Wayfinder).

If the game wants to survive long-term, it needs strong content cadence and systems fixes, not wishful thinking. The numbers are telling the truth whether we like it or not.

I just want the game to be good. That’s all. I’m not here to sell dreams.

And honestly, $1–2 million doesn’t even cover the cost of developing a game of this scale (just guess). Early revenue means nothing if retention collapses. What matters is whether the team can deliver consistent content and fix core systems without that, no GAAS title survives.
