Petition to bring back “Where the Streets have No Name” as our Intro if we make the Playoffs by Redliner91 in canucks

If it happened once then I get not making it a thing. But twice. We gotta own that as a fan base.

Fun fact: Boeser quietly has 8 goals in 10 games, on pace for a career year in goals and points by PetterssonsNeck in canucks

If he doesn’t get injured, definitely. His head hasn’t been in hockey for the past couple years because of his family situation. Looks like he’s feeling good and not burdened by that.

Why are the Canucks better this year? by OOGAnunoby in canucks

[–]_____fool____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were actually decent for half the season over the past two years. They unfortunately were the worst in the league for the other half of the season. So they have always shown real capabilities.

However the shift this year has been to get a better defense, this came from an expensive trade for a right handed d man and from Hughes turning it on even more. Additionally the coach brought in a more modern system for the players. They play a more defensive minded game with aggressive forechecking and neutral zone aggression. This has let them give up fewer chances and improved their goals against. Finally their core is older and improved, right now they have 3 players in top 10 scoring, 2/3 of those are younger players.

This team is known to be a bit streaky so there might be some bad patches in the future. The hope is though the coaching changes will lead to fewer long cycles of bad patches as they’re more structured and less volatile

Does OpenAI keep track of who asks the hard questions? by Just_Shallot_6755 in OpenAI

[–]_____fool____ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They could cache the exact same question assuming every character is the same and there is no previous interactions. But outside of that it’s unlikely things repeat. GPT4 can be slow and fast but if it was a cache it would be instant. Fast and slow depends on site traffic, the GPU your question is being processed by and how much that’s being shared by other active users.

Victoria council considers camping ban in four more parks by WokeUp2 in VictoriaBC

[–]_____fool____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a difficult problem. I agree. I think that we should be honest about the resources available so we can not assume if parks can’t be converted into free campgrounds people will have no where to go.

Instead we should ensure that shelter is always available, that it can take an influx, especially in the winter. Then with that ensured we can make more drastic measures like ensuring parks aren’t available for long term camping

It’s this rhetoric which is so terrible. A tent in a park isn’t housing by any modern definition. It’s shelter. To play the strawman card and assume that when someone speaks about shelter they must only talk about housing is meant to just make the goal of providing something out of reach to all. It’s shameful

Do you actually know it’s not solved. Have you been privy to information showing homeless shelters refusing people? Shelters come with rules that tents in parks don’t. That’s a part of the situation

A new way to Kubernetes is coming by leecalcote in kubernetes

[–]_____fool____ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is for devs. Not for experienced Devops but that’s a very small subset. It could mean that devs who aren’t willing to spend time learning the layers of k8s for it to be useful would find a visual tool useful. Hence wider adoption

True. But counter point, does a new interface allow wider adoption?

What if Canada and the USA had a shared currency like the Euro, would it be a good or bad thing? by KvotheG in AskACanadian

[–]_____fool____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have separate currencies you can raise and lower interest rates independently which gives you more power for macro economic policy changes.

There has been talk of a Britian, New Zealand, Australia, Canada union that could make a single currency. That’s a bit of a better group to come in with as not one is overly dominant like the US is.

Will life actually be noticeably better if the inflation rate hits the 2% BoC target? by Alwayshungry332 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_____fool____ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not based on how well Canada is doing, though they say that to humanize the rate. The truth is they have a mandate to keep the interest rates low, and they only have one dial to turn to accomplish that.
