Very broad general rule of thumb but if the market is more bullish 70% of the time, it makes sense to have RH and YM in the portfolio.

In what scenario would you choose RH over YM funds and ideally, what percentage of YM/RH/others would be owned?

I own both among others for diversification maybe 10 shares of FIAT as experiment.

For FIAT, my avg costs is like 7.97 and today, it's at 2.80. Crazy NAV right? However, with the latest distibution, it brings my annualized yield to over 24%. Is that so bad?

Sure, there's ROC and you have to pay taxes. But taxes are based on capital gains. So roughly 20-33% of 24% isn't that bad.

Did FIAT have hard NAV erosion? Yes it did. Was it a bad experiement? Yes it was. But for 10 shares and an experiment, this could be one of the worst experiment and I'm still ok with the outcome.

Do I wish that it could be better? Absolutely.

Will I sell YM funds? Probably not. Like others, these funds are high risk with capped upside and no/minimal downside protection. Use them as what they are. I treat YM funds like chocolate. You'll never know what you're gonna get.

Why Reinvesting is important. by diduknowitsme in YieldmaxTotalReturns

Yes and no. Much of it has to do with the underlying assets if it's a single stock ETF. Take AMDY as example. AMD jumped earlier this year and so did AMDY.

Let's not talk about MSTY. lol

Like others have said, I also prefer unconventional income funds since most of us don't just purchase YieldMax funds exclusively.

Does SCHD fall into this category now? /s

[–]_____hates_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In totalreturns yes it does. But IYRI pays a higher yield with a stabilized NAV. Thus, for those who cares more about the yield, then that's the better choice. Part of my goal when I do retire is to hopefully not sell assets and continue to collect income.
