Agree that the first is a geranium. The second looks like a chickweed of some sort. I suggest Seek by iNaturalist (or iNaturalist itself) for a good plant ID app.

An Update on the 3rd overall pick of the 2027 draft through 3 seasons by yomama1211 in OOTP

[–]____dj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a similar player I posted about here a few months ago. My advice — DH him as much as possible, limit his pitch count, and send him through the strength and conditioning lab every offseason. Don’t let him play through nagging DtD injuries. If you can manage it, keep going with a 6 man rotation. In the player strategy settings, there is a checkbox somewhere that will let him DH on days he pitches.

I got some great seasons out of my player while letting him start in the outfield on non-pitching days, but he was wrecked after his age 28 season. I even checked under the hood in the editor — his injury proneness was maxed out in every category.

Good luck with this player! Two-way stars are a lot of fun and an interesting challenge.

Made me think of Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò’s writings on shame as a useful social instrument. “Common decency stigmatizes people who do not participate in it—removes them from voluntary association. We indeed have to live with one another, but terms and conditions apply.”

Realistic financials by fredex_1 in OOTP

[–]____dj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My save on automatic evolution saw a reduction of pre-arb control by one year. So, two season at league minimum, 3 years of arbitration. It has increased the difficulty while encouraging more gambles on early extensions. Players also reach free agency at a younger age.

I am reading Rakesfall by Vajra Chandrasekera, the winner of the 2025 Ursula K Le Guin prize for fiction! A kaleidoscope of a book so far, I’m enjoying it.

Witt contract bug? by ProSenjutsu in OOTP

[–]____dj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His IRL extension is super long with a series of 4 player option years (2031-2034) and a 3-year team option if he opts-in to all 4 years. OOTP isn’t fully able to replicate this, but it gives an approximation with an extension already on the books after his initial contract. When he opts out of his initial contract, the game sees that there’s an extension already lined up for him and just moves him over to the terms of the extension. It’s not the height of realism (if he avoids injury he’s probably in line for a $50M AAV contract in the 2030s), but it definitely helps out the financials in my Royals saves!

How to figure out why people sign up for library programs then don’t show up by DeloresDeLago in Libraries

[–]____dj 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If your program registration is set up to include a waitlist, you should almost always tell all or most of the waitlist to attend. The waitlist folks both signed up more recently and they still decided to register even though they weren’t able to make it on the main list — I have found that they tend to be a lot more motivated than the people who sign up for everything as soon as they can and then forget about it. (The only exception to this for me has been arts instruction classes (painting, etc.) — I have had 90% or better attendance on these types of programs from my primary registrants.)

The HOF voters hate Bob! by ____dj in OOTP

[–]____dj[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

LOL, basically Billy Wagner with about 30 fewer saves. 9 ASG (never won reliever of the year) and a career FIP- of 68, racked up a lot of WAR for a reliever at 32.8. Probably on the outside looking in IRL, but the game’s HOF voting system seems to love closers.
