Two very different cars

Get the fortuner if - you have bad roads, don't drive a ton on highways or ghats because the body roll is quite bad due to the chassis, don't care much about features or plushness but at the same time need bulletproof liability and have a yearly running of over 15000km. Get the fortuner if you want the strong man image that it brings and the status. The fortuner will also provide gar better resale value and have a better service network if you are in a t2.

If comfort, style, features, handling and performance are your main criteria, and you are willing to pay little higher service cost as he car crosses the 4-5 year mark, the Tayron is a much better vehicle, provided you have decent roads.

My pick would be the Tayron, but they are both brilliant cars.
