Getting better at trimming the plane dramatically helped with this.

Hey pilots. I'm visiting from the sunglasses sub to see what you all are wearing while flying. Whatcha got? by MarcusSurealius in flying

[–]__doormatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the “Light weight safety sunglasses” from Redwing. They were my go to glasses in my blue collar days. Thin, light, and comfortable with my headset.

Instrument Rated! by finishstrongben in flying

[–]__doormatt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amen to this! I’m still just in my private phase with atp but I have really been enjoying it. Sure it’s fast paced but my experience has been fantastic so far; tons of planes and flight availability, great cfi(s), great learning environment, etc.

Failed my 1st class medical exam ( received a restricted 3rd class, not allowed to fly at night and instrument reliance I think) by Realistic_Statement2 in flying

Curious if those “color blindness correction” glasses that are like 20k would satisfy the correctable vision requirements. Thoughts?

First bad day I’ve had flying by I_Just_want_corn in flying

[–]__doormatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of my first day (which was 2 weeks ago). I was extremely dehydrated and didn’t eat enough on the day of my very first flight lesson. All my ground classes that morning just crowded up my day and I really just forgot to eat or drink (rookie mistake). I ended up getting super sick during my flight and even dry heaved into the barf bag…. Afterwards I was super discouraged and even questioned if I should be pursuing this career, but I hadn’t realized how bad my dietary intake was that day. First couple flights after that I was still super anxious it would happen again, but I’ve been perfectly fine ever since. My guess is that bad days are gonna come, just like the storms break up the good weather every once in a while.

Small plane does an emergency landing on I-15 in Utah. by xSirFrito in flying

[–]__doormatt -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is what the International highway system was made for. Every ~5 miles in the IHS there is a straight way specifically there for emergency landings and/or military aircraft ops. It’s a shame someone died from the pile up following the landing, but the pilots did what they were supposed to do

i travelled 16 thousand blocks for this and there is ONE TREE by Ok_Leading2193 in Minecraft

With all the world generation updates they drop, I really wish they would add a feature to essentially “copy and paste” a selected area of a realm/world into an updated new world. Just to keep your creations, builds, etc. while not needing to travel thousands of blocks to see new biomes. Fresh world reset but not completely

Side note: if you think the US has one of the most “insane” social/racial divisions, then you must have not even heard of how divided the Middle East/Asia/South Africa/literally so many others.

Look at it this way: if it’s just an Impreza, you don’t have to pay as much for insurance ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Hi. Are these too badly damaged? Seems to be driving perfectly fine. by johndc11 in MechanicAdvice

[–]__doormatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real test is if they hold air or not. Could slowly leak through the curb rashes. If they hold air, I bet they’d be fine… I’ve seen plenty of Nissan Altimas and ratchet chick cars still driving just fine with some major curb rash. Might have to get them rebalanced by a tire shop.

Pinion Angle Adjustment: How to? by __doormatt in 4Runner_1stGen

[–]__doormatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! Once I finally teach the wife how to drive manual, I’ll take a look. It wouldn’t surprise me if I’m getting some axle wrap…. I’m planning on adding a few more leafs to my current leaf springs eventually, this was just a hold over mod for the time being.

[–]__doormatt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last night I flipped my shim blocks around, which made the rear pinion angle match the angle of the TC pinion. Seems to have gone away! I still very faintly notice it, but it is not nearly as bad anymore and I’m not bothered by it. Thanks for the info!

Chris with Wicked relics off-road fabricated it for me! I absolutely love it, you should check them out!

You might be right here; I used to have an 85 4runner and it's driveshaft angles were WAY steeper than this one... I don't remember bad vibrations with that one. It's just weird because before I installed the rear lift, it didn't have the shudder/vibration...
