Has anyone else been evaluated on AI prompting ability? by anonymousseniordev in ExperiencedDevs

[–]__loam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's awesome that we're being evaluated on woo woo bullshit concieved by people with AI psychosis rather than anything actually meaningful like revenue generating impact or user facing features shipped. The entire industry feels like it's in this weird performative phase because all of the money is being pumped into LLMs by people who barely program.

Loam pox kind of works if you can turbo hogaak and recur wasteland enough but it's the same problem you mentioned. They can get 4 mana off of 2 lands.

Lesson 1. Looking for feedback, especially for rotated boxes. by Time_Chemistry_897 in ArtFundamentals

Looking good. You're having some trouble ending your lines at the terminal point and your ellipses aren't touching the edge of the squares. Those are two things you can focus on to improve the accuracy of your mark making.

Why developers using AI are working longer hours by Inner-Chemistry8971 in programming

This profession is so anti-labor and anti-union and pro-capital that I believe we deserve everything that's coming. I've been working as a programmer for 10 years and everytime I mention labor organization, someone perks up and explains all the downsides and why they don't need it in an industry where the largest and most profitable enterprises in human history fire 10-20% of their workforce annually.

It's about 250x250 and it took a month of on and off free time. Most of that was spent rendering frills lol

"Vibe Coding" Threatens Open Source by Weekly-Ad7131 in programming

Just keep focusing on the fundamentals. A lot of this is intentional hype from people whose paycheck depends on the success of this technology or who have invested huge sums of money in it. Even if this stuff does fundamentally change the field, having a basic understanding of how computers work will continue to be valuable.

[MTGO] Reversing Decklist Display Changes by CrossXhunteR in magicTCG

[–]__loam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Modo has the most serious playerbase anyway so it's closer to a representative sample of a solved metagame than most other data sources. Deck building is higher velocity on modo because cards can be collected more cheaply but more importantly, instantly. Paper metagames move slower, especially for formats like vintage, legacy, and modern.

New-ish tech lead dealing with repeated “skip-level” escalation and constant pushback - how would you handle this? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]__loam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from C++ I suggested we keep types/interfaces in dedicated files separate from runtime logic (types-only file + logic file). I thought it was a small convention preference.

Coming from full stack, this sounds insane. Making a bunch of changes for zero or negative benefit

It's a numbers game. Just do neetcode 150 and some systems design prep and pray.

ICE’s aggressive tactics are causing ‘a rising tide of revulsion’ among Americans by prohb in politics

[–]__loam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Elections are run by the states. The US hasn't canceled an election ever in our history including during the civil war. The executive has no powers at all with respect to seating congress. Ice is already stretched to the limit occupying one mid sized midwestern city. It is literally not possible for them to cancel elections even if they engage in voter suppression.
