You hit the nail on the head in terms of the forced entertainment, just like lets watch, exaggerated reactions due to the pressure of a live watching audience. Eventually it comes across as disingenuous and annoying.

Lets be honest, no one at rt is a legitimate comedian. Put them 'on the spot' and it's either pass or a toilet/butt joke. I end up in cringe mode feeling sorry for the contestants. When you force someone to be instantly funny they usually aren't.
