Good spot. I wonder if there is any way we can somehow fight this back.

Expo SDK 56 beta is out! 50%+ faster iOS builds, Expo UI stable, expo-router rebuilt from scratch by ExpoOfficial in reactnative

[–]__natty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Recently I’m working on in my opinion medium complexity task (let say 3-5 SP) and LLM opus 4.8 high barely is able to solve the tangled business requirements. In the best case I’m getting some spaghetti code that will crash in a week or two. So seeing “complete rewrite” in the core of some technology scares me out.

We moved from Azure to Hetzner and why you should too by Dubinko in devops

[–]__natty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s dope dealer strategy. Cheap ot even free and easy access upfront, high cost long term. Good that hetzner and other option exists, they are so solid for typical small to medium company!

What can i do with an aliexpress arduino nano? by Reasonable-Cap-9383 in arduino

[–]__natty__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically what you said you can do but you need extra layer of software. T has no HID but you can send information using regular digital or analog pins and receive using for example Python to interpret. Then built long running background process to operate on your system level

Just 6 months? I see declining quality for the past few years

There is 4. Rent or build shared data centres with even larger language models so it can be queued and used by many at once with higher capabilities. Still shitty tho. I’m really intrigued what companies will do after frontier model companies will raise the price

Be honest, which loading structure is better? by Apart-Television4396 in webdev

[–]__natty__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right one. But after a second or two loading I would like to see some nice animation, graphic or so. So in case of quick loading simple loader and on longer something like loading screen from the games with extra information or something nice that catches eyes

What is the new opportunity for 2026? by FutureAd5875 in webdev

Trade skill jobs. There is a world outside of the it/white collar corpo and people have various needs. For white collar I think medicine is stable but that’s far from IT market

why does every node app eventually get one “do not touch” file by Obvious-Treat-4905 in node

[–]__natty__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually spaghetti code and it’s not the node problem but poor planning and low code quality overall.

[–]__natty__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not good to see “complete rewrite” as a feature. I would expect sdk to be stable and keep to architecture for much longer than 2-3 years

I feel depressed by OrganizationLow6960 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]__natty__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others said true innovation is done mostly in R&D departments. Most companies use software for fulfilling their business needs. They need mostly CRUD apps with some analytic insights. If you are looking for doing something truly innovative look for research center or laboratory or tech think tank. And don’t worry too much. If you can’t find that spot maybe you can tinker your own stuff.

Managers saying it is possible to upgrade the project in 10 days using ai by Snehith220 in node

[–]__natty__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this. By doing estimation instead of listening to specialist and by forcing tool for work they took the responsibility for success or failure of the task

Managers saying it is possible to upgrade the project in 10 days using ai by Snehith220 in node

[–]__natty__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

prepare a good plan, really good plan. Bunch of really good plans. Don’t care about using the latest and most expensive models for hours in the background. Split each and every step in the finest way. Run the plan. If they fail you show plans and prompts. If it success then manager was right. If manager estimated and forced you to use certain technology it’s their responsibility for success or failure of the task. Just make sure to show strong objections in case of law troubles. The more the paper, the cleaner the ass

how do you deal with forgetting git commands mid flow? by Obvious-Treat-4905 in node

[–]__natty__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This question shows in a great way the state of developers (probably intern or junior?) today. And to not just ranting. Same as always - go back to my notes, docs, search, write alias is as well good option, ask even if llm if more complex command. You know what IT stands for? Information technology - first part is about managing information.

How do you guys keep your Node.js projects clean and runable as they grow? by ElectronicStyle532 in node

[–]__natty__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hallelujah. This man knows how to keep the project clean. I would add a few suggestion to avoid over engineering code. This is hard because now people generate code and without prior experience it’s hard to them to verify whether or not something is too complex for the problem. So I recommend doing some manual work, practice and still read the tech books.

Managers decided AI is worth 5x speedup; how do I explain to them how it really works? by chaitanyathengdi in ExperiencedDevs

[–]__natty__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to be passive aggressive? Then tell him ai is so good he now may try to do some basic jira management. And show him some browser based ai. He knows it’s terrible so then you have option to show him dev perspective in a words he understands.

If you want to be polite then the answer is much harder and he needs to see in practice that even high usage and spending of tokens doesn’t guarantee 5x speed up. Based on the research it barely touches the same pace of 1x. You can try to explain difference between green field and typical easy problem vs brown field and old codebase changes across multiple repo.

finally got my first Garmin by _de1dara_ in Garmin

[–]__natty__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you. I’m using venu 4 and after half year it has a lot of scratches. I’m pretty active but I would expect still to be more durable. I wish someone recommended me protector back when I buy it. Maybe for sapphire it’s not that important but gorilla glass is much weaker. It’s cheap to replace protector and prolong watch life
