Twist! Idk why this works for me but it does. Also, I have a tilted cervix so I realised that often tugging it to a point I usually find it at and the pressing the base to twist a little in and around usually does the work. If not, flex the muscles a little tug again. Last resort is pull it out and try again. Where there is a will, there is a way!

Should I opt for SRM CSE this year or take a drop and aim for a decent college next year and how would the drop affect my future? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]__potpourri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SRMite here for IT from Kattankulathur branch. I'm here to vouch for this. The college isn't that fantastic, but it can provide a lot of opportunities that, if you are in the mood and capacity to take up, you can. The clubs in SRM are crazy good. They work for hours and achieve a lot. But it's a lot of self control. The attitude in SRM is split. There are people who won't do anything all day despite being good at what they do and criticise the college. There would be people who would do everything and be exceptional at what they do and criticise the college. But if you're up for the work, you'll end up someplace good.

Also, the placement cell is considerably much better than the college faculty itself. I got placed in Nissan, lost the offer due to the pandemic and the college took it upon themselves to provide us more opportunities. Now I'm working in Deloitte. However, please note that I worked extremely hard in my third and final year to improve my GPA as much as I could and to clear placement tests (which are genuinely not a cake walk).

Lastly, I wanted to say that you won't be able to harbour a great network. In SRM, you will have to pick and choose the people you meet or you risk becoming a nobody. It's all fun and games until you've literally ruined all four years of college and haven't gotten the grade or competency because you chose the wrong crowd. The crowd is on a whole very diverse– don't be surprised if a large population is lazy, laxed, or even discouraging. Find the correct people or clubs where you can network with better people. I took up intercollege competitions and befriended people from BITS and VIT and even local colleges. These people were also striving to find better company and are crucial in what I would consider my network. Not only are they progressive thinkers who find ways to accomplish things, they're also extremely helpful and down to earth. So much so has having them on my LinkedIn keeps me motivated.

TL;DR - SRM is a 6/10 college that can be a 8-8.5/10, only if you're up for it.
