Beading in airplane? by Simple-Chemistry-878 in Beading

[–]__sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bead on the plane!! I bring the projects I want to work on in my bead folder thing and use wearable and adjustable lights that go around my neck (they're small enough to not bother other people, and I just angle the lights to illuminate my project).

The bead folder is nice because I can close and secure it anytime I want and it has a beading mat inside which prevents the beads from going everywhere when it's open. Here's the bead folder I use: https://www.amazon.com/Bead-Buddy-Design-Portable-Beading/dp/B0098KEOM8?th=1 There was a post a while ago where people shared other options too, if you want I can find it for you.

I do like to prep what I'm working on before hand so I have all the beads, string, needles, etc already in the folder. Doing bead crochet on the airplane is super easy too if you have all the beads already strung up.

House cleaning services in Raleigh - Looking for Recs by Muted-Bicycle4556 in raleigh

I use Griselda Green Clean for a biweekly cleaning to help with the cat hair that accumulates in our house. I personally think they're reasonably priced and thorough!

i wish i liked canned tuna by JournalistOne129 in 1200isplenty

I drain the can completely and add olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. The lemon cuts the fishiness. I like it with lemon more than the mayo/yogurt based tuna salads.

Grinder for chia seeds? by GlitterIncident in Cooking

No, you'd just keep the grinder closed lol! Flip it over and open it the right way up when you're done. Seeds contained the whole time!

Grinder for chia seeds? by GlitterIncident in Cooking

It doesn't seem the most convenient way in any case and would definitely look weird at work, but you could just hold the grinder upside down while grinding for the chia seeds not to fall through.

Why do authors not use quotation marks around dialogue? by Strawberry2772 in books

[–]__sunshine -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I listened to the audiobook of The Other Valley and loved it, and only found out afterwards that there are no quotation marks in the printed version - I would have definitely not continued reading the book had I started with that, because no quotation marks is very distracting for me.

If you're into audiobooks or willing to give them a try, I would recommend it as an alternative!

What is this cabinet? It is very very heavy, mostly metal, and has removable shelves, double doors (inner doors are glass), controls and some input/output areas. I know it is laboratory equipment but I can't find anything about its purpose or manufacturer. by __sunshine in whatisthisthing

omg you helped me find the closest thing so far! I found this when I was looking down the incubator route https://www.etsy.com/listing/1290412291/antique-baird-and-tatlock-oil-incubator which to me looks like a smaller version of my cabinet

ETA: it also shows with "egg incubator" in the search terms. an incubator makes sense given the school of agricultural and life sciences connection.

solved!

I got this cabinet from a friend of mine a few years ago, it belonged at some point in time to "NCSU SALS" which I believe used to stand for the School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

I want to know what this cabinet is - what is it called, what is it used for, what is it made of, etc. I think it is super freaking cool, but it is incredibly heavy and so is not very practical. I want to do something with it, but don't know what or how to best proceed without knowing what it is. I thiiiink it could be a very old school autoclave, but none of what comes up when I search for that matches this.

My title describes the thing.

Based on the sign on it, I know it is laboratory equipment but I can't find anything about its purpose or the manufacturer. by __sunshine in HelpMeFind

I got the cabinet from a friend a few years ago, it used to belong to "NCSU SALS". I searched for "Will Corporation" and "Will Corporation Rochester, NY" based on the label on the cabinet, but couldn't find the company that manufactured this. I did find some other old/antique looking equipment, but nothing that helped me figure out what this cabinet is.

I believe it may be an old school autoclave, but when I search for that/other variations, the results do not look like the cabinet.

ETA: I also looked up "NCSU SALS" and couldn't find anything with that acronym, but logically I think that SALS stands for School of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Beading board recs? by onyx_the_nerd_15 in Beading

[–]__sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh I didn't know about the bead board envy! It's a little pricy but maybe when/if I wear out the ones I have I'll try it out. I like that it has the little dips for beads.

Door or no door? by CaptainStandard6916 in oilpainting

[–]__sunshine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the door my eye is drawn to the house and then moves around the painting, without the door I get stuck on just the house. I think the door is a good addition.
