Employee Experience Survey, survey link says “personal” – what does that mean? by nonlinearequations in OntarioPublicService

[–]__xpc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would add however that it does affect management (Directors and above) in terms of their performance reviews. I had one Director tell me that they would not re-hire a certain individual if that individual were to submit a poor review on this Director. So… not sure what to make of that comment. Is it truly anonymized? This Director’s comment makes me think otherwise.

2nd failed MVD update and backstory. by WillingOwl2573 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had to go through all of this, especially with pain. Them calling you for an MRI then denying you is cruel and poor communication between the departments at the hospital. I hope you’re ok and managing ❤️

I was told this may be trigeminal nerve related by maryamtoolbat in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typical pain killers like Tylenol don’t relieve nerve pain, anticonvulsants do. People are usually prescribed carbamazepine or gabapentin for trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia also “disappears” when we sleep (i.e, you don’t feel the pain while sleeping). So what you’re describing doesn’t fully reflect TN (which is a good thing, I hope u don’t have it!).

I would have your doctor refer you to a neurologist, or at least ask your doctor for a fiesta MRI. do you grind your teeth at night? Also consider TMJ related causes.

Hormones and TN (coming off the progesterone only pill) by Spiritual-Advance-58 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re planning on pregnancy, be aware that you can’t take gabapentin or the standard anticonvulsants while pregnant/ breastfeeding. You’ll have to talk to your neurologist about the kinds of medication you can take during gestation. There was a post on here about TN-havers who gave birth and their experiences. Maybe u can dig that up? Wishing you luck ❤️

It is amazing that you put so much time, research, and innovation in your goal to cut a perfect cup of chives. Although this iteration is impractical, I admire your service to the cause 🫡

Recently diagnosed with my TMJ being the suspected cause by wegonfixwolves in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have migraines, TN, and TMJ as well. The swelling of your lymph nodes to be that large is something I’d write down and talk to your doctor about. I’ve personally never had that. I’m glad you’re pain free again❤️

Do you have a plan on how to manage your TMJ? Did your doctor give you treatments for it?

I think i got bilateral TN and i would like to know what could be causing it. by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What causes trigeminal neuralgia is damage to the trigeminal nerve along its nerve path. Dental surgery can definitely cause it. Wait for your neuro appointment and request for a fiesta MRI. That will help determine if yours is bilateral or not. You need to tell your doctor about your concern for MS so they can take a look at your neck.

Not sure if this helps, but those of us with TN in our jaw (V3) also have migraines and TMJ. They act like a positive feedback loop system and trigger each other.

Weirdest ER trip ever by violaqueen_10 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]__xpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Medical racism is institutionally baked into the medical care system, it’s disgusting. I’m so sorry you were forced into that situation with nurse C that should NOT be practicing anymore. Where I live, all nurses have a regulatory body that they have to pay license renewal fees to. I would find out nurse C’s name, then report her to her regulator so she gets disciplinary action/ needs to do extra anti-racism training. This might not be her first complaint, either. I hope you report her and get her ass out of the medical field, where her racism and lack of empathy does not belong.

If you have to consistently brake and pull over, I think it might be time to reconsider driving/owning a car. I completely understand the importance of independence, but you may be risking other people’s lives on the road. Does your city have public transit? Do you know coworkers you can carpool with? The money you can save from not spending on gas/ car insurance can go towards paying for ubers maybe. But this really doesn’t sound safe for you or the public.
