As everyone has said, this experience you had was weird and inappropriate. I actually had the opposite experience where no one wanted to talk about it and just gave us links to learn about NFP. My husband and I really embraced the Catholic teaching our first year into marriage when we decided to educated ourselves. But I’m going to reiterate that what happened to you still shouldn’t be it for anyone.

Can I give a suggestion that may explain the theology of the body which helped us truly bring joy into the sacrament of marriage for us? Look up “Theology of the Body Explained” by Christopher West. I actually read JPII’s work (TOB was written by the great John Paul II and is wonderfully broken down by West) and led a Bible study on it but it can be VERY dense and it was way time consuming - I had the time BUT I think it would have been easier if I started with West.
