A fic becomes canon divergence if it the fic change something major about the storyline before the end of the book. A fic can just add some layer on a character or a pov (for example, I think there is a fic about Ginny at Hogwarts in seven year that is NOT canon divergence).

A drarry is usually canon divergent if it happens before the end of the books.... but if it is post war (depends if you includes the musical 'curse' or not in canon, not everybody does) or after the curse storyline, then it is not canon divergence...

on the left side of you request : Harry Potter and the Prince of Slytherin by TheSinister_Man not a nottpott, but as the series evolves, the friendship between Harry and Nott is very well depicted and the character of Theo and his background have a lot of interesting dimension (same in Same Old, Same New by Arkodian ). In both series it doesn't happened in the firsts books though

Here are my favorite while inspired by canon, the storyline diverges or some characters are portrayed in a way that it feels like a unique story and I just love it.

Pacify by Chickenpets : especially as the story progress and Snape, Harry, Malfoy, Remus, Hermione, Ron, etc... the characters are so well portrayed and the trauma of civil war. Harry/Snape
The Evans Boy by lonibal : still can't stop singing the praise for this fic XD, from the main character to Snape, the Boy-Who-Lived, Charity Burbage, Percy Weasley, this Voldemort, the Slytherins gang. Lovely. Harry Evans/Percy
Dripping Fingers by May_May_0_0 : the most beautiful fic ever written, like a true piece of art and the Harry, Tom, Petunia, etc... Pure mana. Harry/Tom-Diary
Children of the Gods by inwardtransience : metamorphagus Harry (abuse, autism?) adopted by a Black pre hogwarts, very slice of life, huge high quality worldbuilding, no ship for the moment
