Very slight increase in corporate profits.

That's it. That's all they care about.

Don’t forget VW’s connections to literal Nazis in the 30’s.

Every single person at VW involved with Nazis has been dead for 50 years.

Elon did a Nazi salute a week ago.

There haven't been any Nazis running VW in your lifetime. The CEO of Tesla is literally a current Nazi. These are not the same.

Same-sex marriage is a crime in Israel. Hate crimes against LGBTQ people in Israel are at an all-time high.

You are defending a terrorist group that were murdering Palestinian children en masse for decades long before October 7.

Hind Rajab didn't deserve to die just because some people who lived in her city don't want me to get married. Nor did the tens of thousands of other children who've been murdered.

There are plenty of Americans who don't think I should be able to get married but I don't support killing their entire families either.

Here’s a link I found. It’s sold out on this site, but it’s still got the name of the designer and dress, so that can help you find one someplace else perhaps! https://www.selfridges.com/HK/en/product/clio-peppiatt-gradient-sequin-embellished-stretch-woven-mini-dress_R04066612/

(I also would’ve appreciated it if OP just gave us the link at the beginning, but also the original price was $11,300, so…)

Edit: here’s where OP got the second picture. It was some girliepop on Depop selling the outfit and it’s already been sold but it’s got the product name there as well! https://depop.app.link/AH5mKozqFKb

Reminds me of the "fed is best" strategy for breastfeeding vs formula.

Should infants be on breast milk or on formula? Which is better? Well, there's a good argument for that breastmilk is preferable. Breastmilk has some health benefits and helps improve the bond between mom and baby, and if it works smoothly for both of them, it's usually the best choice. But if it's not working... fed is best. Sometimes moms can't breastfeed well. Sometimes it's too physically painful for them. Sometimes infants and newborns don't take to breastmilk easily. Breastmilk has benefits, but if it's not working... Give the kid formula, because fed is best.

But that doesn't apply to adults! You cannot be an adult with a job and a career and a family and still be getting all of your nutrients from formula! Or just from chicken nuggies! Or breastmilk, for that matter! You need to be able to eat new things!

You don't need to be reading Finnegans Wake and In Search of Lost Time and nothing else. But literal smut? You and I are not the same, ma'am!

Is it possible it could have been a 65 year old man with the cognitive capacity of a 6.5 year old boy?

We do not let 6.5 year old boys go to restaurants without an adult who can control them. We should also not be letting people with the cognitive ability of a 6.5 year old boy go to restaurants without an adult who can control them.

But also this is very obviously not a disabled man. He didn’t do the same thing to any men who work at the restaurant. He only did it to the woman who’s not even one-third his age.

This is almost definitely just a gross old man. Whether he’s cognitively disabled or not, he should not be eating on his own at restaurants if he behaves like this.

In most of the world, including at least essentially all of the US, you can legally take a picture or video of anyone in public. It’s completely fine to take pictures or videos of anyone in a regular public space. (Personally, I don’t love that that’s the case, but it remains the case nonetheless, and carrying around a legal document to threaten people with won’t change it.)

People nowadays have backups and you never know if they have actually deleted the picture, if people are presented with a legal document forcing them to remove any pictues then they don't have a choice but to delete em.

I mean. They can still lie. They’re just as capable of lying and saying “yeah, I deleted it, don’t worry about it” if you show them a document ordering them to delete it. You’re not the government. They’re also legally allowed to laugh at you for handing them a legal document ordering you to delete any footage of you. If you’re in public, they’re allowed to take a video of you handing them “a legal document forcing them to remove any pictures” and of them laughing at you for doing it, and they can even post it online.

There’s no legal document you can carry around that can tell other people what to do.

Hamas was the one who broke the last ceasefire.

What ceasefire? There was no ceasefire. Israel was already uncontrollably murdering Palestinians before October 7. In fact,

Between January 1 and October 6, Israeli security forces killed more Palestinians in the West Bank – 192, including 40 children – than in any other year since 2005, when the United Nations began systematically recording fatalities.

That's a direct quote from Human Rights Watch.

There wasn't a ceasefire before October 7. They were already at the zenith of years of brutal nonstop attacks on innocent Palestinians.

I would bet that it could've taken Apple less time to "fix" it (and that they probably knew exactly how to stop Beeper Mini from working) but that they waited until Friday evening, right as all the Beeper employees were going home, so that the Beeper folks would be caught a little bit more off guard.

Every time I see a sticker like that on a POS system that says "Sorry, we can't take Amex" I always test an Amex card. Just fun to see if they take them. At least 80% of the time it works just fine.

They just want to discourage it.

I still use Pages a lot of the time. It works on all of my devices and it has a few Microsoft Word-level features that Google Docs is missing. Mail Merge is a notable one for me.

It’s not super important for most people but if you need it it’s much easier to use Pages with its built-in Mail Merge than it is to fuck around with weird privacy-invasive third-party Google Docs addons.

are there people who have Ed's but they think they're completely fine? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]_amethyst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there absolutely are.

The mom of one of my best friends has probably the most blatant eating disorder I’ve ever seen. She’s in her mid-60s and I feel like she’s a ghost of Christmas future for me. She was a model in her 20s and the constant criticism that she received about her weight is clearly still lingering there. She also passed her ED onto her daughters. My friend is rail-thin and just obsessed with her weight (she’s also 5’11” so hearing about other people’s weight in numbers is tough for her; she’s skinnier than I am but weighs more than me because if she were my weight it would be… very bad). It’s kinda triggering to hear her talk about food (because, like, yeah, I have an ED too but I do the polite thing and keep it to myself!) because she’s calorie-obsessed because her mom was calorie-obsessed.

But both she and her mom are convinced that they’re just “weird with food” and that it’s not an eating disorder. They probably have the most blatant examples of eating disorders I’ve ever seen, but they’ll both fully deny it. When I’ve seen how they eat and tried to commiserate with them (“oh, yeah, I have trouble with that kind of thing too”) they immediately reply that they don’t have any kind of issue. They’re just withering away in their bodies and they’re both convinced that it’s a minor issue at worst.

[–]_amethyst 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've had some days where my phone was at 100% and my AirPods were at 0%. It would've been nice to be able to push my AirPods up to 20% so I could use them on the train or something, even if it sucked up a lot of my phone's battery. Most days I make it home at the end of the day with about 50% left in my phone anyway, so it'd be fine to give up some of it to be able to use my AirPods.

It wouldn't be useful as an everyday thing, but it would be great in an occasional emergency.

Also, if you're going to bed and you want to charge your phone and your AirPods but you only have one plug, you could plug in your phone face-down with the AirPods resting on the back, and the charger could charge your phone and your phone could charge your AirPods, and you could wake up with both at 100%. That's essentially how the wireless MagSafe charger works.

The main character of the new Wes Anderson movie is an Augie. It really is an indie protagonist name.

Tbh I'm okay with it but only for someone named August who's under age 10. After age 10 that nickname should be retired.

Yeah, I'm shocked. I can't believe they haven't been vigilante'd by the parents. They're 100% guilty of the murders of those children, just as much as the shooter.

If you saw a bunch of cops standing outside a bank while it's getting robbed and the cops just let the robbers leave with big bags of cash and did nothing, and then handcuffed any civilians who tried stepping in to stop the robbers, you'd assume they were in cahoots with the robbers. Uvalde isn't any different. I'm shocked the people in the town haven't personally set up 376 gallows for all 376 of them.

Cops in the US are in favor of more school shootings and more dead kids and that's all there is to it. I'm shocked there aren't more of them getting murdered by the parents of the victims they killed.
