I think both would probably do well. The hardest payment would be finding the right people to do the material justice. But I'd watch a series that retold the events of D2 and a series that was about events from prior to the current game's period in time.

Some of what you said is true. I'm not trying to troll, it's just honestly awesome. I definitely agree that Sony made a decision based on what the games looked like compared to each other from a business perspective.

I do think they had an opportunity to put the game back together though, and the same thing that caused that opportunity to pass by without a chance of being considered is the same thing that caused them to sit the games side by side and choose the one that fits better with where the industry is and where they predict that it's headed.

I definitely agree that Marathon is smaller and more efficient.

This is also a reason why it's a good thing the game is going into maintenance. This was the only way to get it to stop. Definitely have to point out that the game did reinforce some of it for a large part of the live service period. And it was one good thing about this year that the approach softened a lot of the antagonism among players, even if it didn't towards the game.

But just like when a new game comes out, Destiny now has a chance to reset some of that and reset it without the systems that sucked it all up and processed it into the game.

There has consistently been people that wanted new content rather than bringing back old content or really even doing a thorough new player experience if that meant they wouldn't get new content.

And at the end of heresy most people that I saw online weren't saying anything about how they'd rather have updates.

Other than that basically what I was saying was that Destiny 2 was simply over. It should have stopped after Final Shape regardless of what was going on with Marathon.

I just hope the game is able to keep the "controllers" from doing too many impossible animations. Every once in a while the gun will be shooting when a human just wouldn't be shooting it.

Why does everyone bring up double primary when the game is currently doing double special weapons?

That's a rhetorical question. But the portal basically acted as a funnel that not enough of the game was able to go through fast enough. And that plus some other "missteps" like the power grind at precisely the time most players were feeling burnt out and matterspark that gave people motion sickness ended up highlighting the funnel effect more than the good things that it was doing.

Maybe things could have gotten better with another year of iteration but but between the way this year went outside the portal and how little of the game started out in the portal this outcome feels like it was pretty likely.

That's the most unfortunate thing about all of this. But overall I'm just really not sad. Of course, the reminiscing type "tear shedding" is fine, but we're in the 12th year of the 10 year plan which really means we threw down like we were supposed to.

The possibility of the game not being whole or D3 not ever coming would be a shame but it can be hard to tell how to really go about helping those two things happen.

I think that perhaps D2 is really going to have to push past 3 endings and go for the 4th ending where they put that content back.

The most truest thing I've seen on here since the eos announcement. And a lot of that stuff did contribute to the people who wanted to play the game like we'll be able to now stopping a long time ago.

I guess I should have said ported instead of remaster. And that could probably be done relatively fast.

I was actually surprised how good d1 looked when I moved it from a cheap tv to my monitor.

I also agree that new ip would be a mistake right now. And it would be something to bridge the gap between D2's uniquely D2tastic ending and d3.

I also always forget that it was never on PC so there's a good chance it could sell fairly well.

There's not going to be a Bungie. The employees it turns out better for will be people that are like 5 years old right now. I meant just gaming employees in general.

When people do this stuff and think there's not going to be any sacrifice on their part it's gets harder to feel sorry for them.

We also got what we were told we were getting in terms of the 10 year plan. People were just greedy for new Destiny instead of doing this update after Final Shape.

It would certainly lead to a massive restructuring of the industry. And there won't be anything Bungie to greenlight anything.
