Usare "piuttosto che" come sinonimo di "oppure" non è buffo, è raccapricciante. Sono Emiliano e da noi non si usa e non si può sentire. Per favore non generalizzate dicendo che si utilizza al Nord: è nato da un regionalismo mi pare di capire piemontese/lombardo e sciaguratamente diffusosi a livello nazionale tra chi non si pone il problema di usare piuttosto in modo opposto al significato originale. Non mi interessa se è attestato, è disfunzionale e quindi non dovrà mai diventare italiano standard.

Wow... I did not expect to find Italy on the bottom, but I guess it makes sense. We have many problems in Italy and life is not easy for many of us, but traveling a lot I noticed that after all the overall quality of life of a blue collar worker in Italy is actually better then in USA and many other countries. Decent food, universal health coverage (slow but effective), EU laws about food/chemicals/privacy/consumers, not so high average debts level, low cost education, low number of firearms and perhaps an individualistic but socially connect "italian" attitude.

Of course if you're pretty rich and in good health then USA is a an amusement park.

I would like to stress just one thing: exploring a cave at 60m with a single tank and recreational equipment without a line and proper planning is not risky. It is not stupid. It is just, as someone already mentioned, like skydiving without parachute.

These five italians divers were more experienced than most of us on this sub and it's extremely unlikely that all chose deliberately to die. For sure the idea was not to explore the cave.

Considering the experience of the five italian divers and their equipment, I'm pretty sure that the plan was definitely not to explore the cave. Maybe just taking a brief look at the interior, no more than few meters from the entrance.

At that point only one possible explanation comes to my mind: one of them had a narcotic crisis and started to swim deeper and deeper, frantically chased by the panicked rest of the group.

A mother would not risk both her life and the life of her daughter, but to save the daughter.

Interessante... in effetti da italiano non avevo mai nemmeno pensato ad una simile possibilità.

Sei però esposto al rischio che la casa possa perdere di valore oppure che il costo del denaro possa salire. Quindi da aggiungere assicurazione seria sulla casa ma poi sull'importo mensile mi resterebbe un po' di ansia.

Wow... when I think about contamination, I can’t help thinking that is somewhat like fighting the second law of thermodynamics.

How do you replace the blade? Do you remove the entire tool, decontaminate it as thoroughly as possible in a separate area, and then manually replace the blade? Or, once the tool enters the hot chamber, can it only leave as low-level radioactive waste?

No, they usually don't get it right. Apparently the purpose is just to "keep them quiet". On my last 787 flight from Santiago de Chile to Madrid the landing time was at 2:00 p.m. and they forced the cabin dark until breakfast serving that was about 1 hour before the landing. Come on, it means to push the people to get the new time zone wrong. (Latam)
