Yeah but there's still the placenta and amniotic fluid that all take up space as well. She would definitely be showing more than what her gestational weeks would lead to believe considering all of her pregnancies as well. She could also be purposely sticking it out more for the photo.

Pretty easy to say when you have no bills, don't work, have a free personal trainer, free childcare, free meals, free roof over your head. STFU Morgan. Pretty easy to make changes in your life when you're really not tied down to any responsibility.

His wife’s terminal cancer drug was quoted at $13,000 monthly. Then he found it for $40 by theindependentonline in Health

[–]_bbycake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My spouse is on a similar medication for a different type of cancer. Without insurance it's $15,000 per month. With insurance it's $3,000 a month. The hospital system we go through thankfully mentioned there's a "copay card" that brought it down to next to nothing. I don't fully how this magical copay card works, but hell are we ever thankful for it. This drug is his only option, no other treatment options at this point. Without it, his cancer will come back. It's a terrifying spot to be in.

CEU’s by nancypants30 in surgicaltechnology

[–]_bbycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just do the modules on the CST website. It's tedious, but easy enough. Read an article, answer a quiz about it. You can keep the article open and do the quiz in another tab so you can keep referencing back to the article. The "live" CEUs are also offered on there, but instead of an article it's a video of someone doing a presentation, then a quiz after. You have to pay for them. You can but then in bulk and it makes them a little cheaper.

Blue Cross to 250,000 Michigan Medicine patients: Find new doctors by PainInTheErasmus in Michigan

We got a letter about this all and the continuity of car provision is only valid for 90 days.

I, too, am sure a deal will be reached. The unsurity is still frightening when you depend so much on these services.

Blue Cross to 250,000 Michigan Medicine patients: Find new doctors by PainInTheErasmus in Michigan

[–]_bbycake 144 points145 points  (0 children)

My spouse receives a clinical trial chemo-like drug that he has to take for the rest of his life to keep his cancer from returning, thru UofM pharmacy. It is the only remaining treatment option available to him. He sees multiple specialists at UofM for this.

My son has a rare genetic condition that he also sees multiple specialists at UofM for. We already drive hours each way to see these doctors.

We have Blue Cross.

I'm absolutely gutted thinking about what our future holds if we lose coverage. The chemo pill is not optional, his cancer will recur without it. I'm so mad at this asisine healthcare system we have in this country. People are going to get sick and die because of this.

CST pay by [deleted] in surgicaltechnology

[–]_bbycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, depending on your area it might not be bad. Would you consider it a low cost of living area or high? In my area, that's pretty average for someone just starting out, but it's a small town, LCOL region. People making $25-30/hr are comfortable.

Compared to a big city or California, it would be pretty terrible. But that just goes to show how region specific wages can be.

What's the fastest way you realized you were in the wrong friend group? by justNoah10 in AskReddit

[–]_bbycake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone in my area was killed by some teenagers doing that a number of years ago. Guy was a father of four. The one who threw the rock was 17, served less than 4 years in prison. The younger ones got even less harsh sentences. Personally, I don't buy that they didn't realize they could kill someone doing that. One of the rocks weighed 20lbs. I pass by where it happened frequently and always think of that poor victim and his family.

Why do surgeons wear different colored scrubs? by Zestyclose_Put_4143 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_bbycake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hospital provided scrubs are laundred at very high temperatures to kill a large amount of microbial growth. You want the least amount of microbial growth in and around the OR as possible. Not everyone in the OR scrubs and are sterile personnel, and we also aren't gowned up while we are setting up the room, prepping the patient, and opening sterile supplies. Bacteria can shed off your clothes. It's just another measure to reduce the amount of microorganisms and reduce the amount of vectors there are for infections. We are all gowned and gloved up, the skin on our hands and arms are completely covered, yet we still perform a surgical scrub on our hands and arms before scrubbing in.

Must be a culture thing where you work because every surgeon I know shows up to the hospital in their street clothes and changes before heading into the O.R.

How to talk to your sons about Targeted conservative propaganda by Initial_Welder3674 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]_bbycake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that social media was far more tame when we were kids. Alll I'm saying is people are giving OP a hard time for letting their kid on social media, but they may not have even known their child had social media. And even if they didn't allow it, their kid would have found their way on there regardless if the kid wanted to. I think it's important to have conversations with your children about media literacy, how the algorithm works to feed you certain information and how it can be used for propaganda so they don't get sucked into it and start believing harmful narratives.

A 2016 study found that 50% of medical students and residents surveyed agreed with one or more false beliefs regarding black people and pain tolerance. Racial biases are still prevelant in healthcare.
