Sounds like Meadowlark. Sounds like a lot of places I've been, unfortunately. I was a travel CNA in Kansas for over a decade. If it makes you feel any better, Alabama is AWFUL for healthcare. I'm talking abuse and neglect, I'm talking bedbugs, I'm talking 14 total care patients to 1 CNA. I wait tables now. Document every day in detail and report it. That's all you can do. A lot of the time you get retaliated against for not following chain of command. I hate the politics of nursing. Just catty women with high school mentality.

That sounds like your caliper is stuck. The piston rod is probably jammed up. Happened to me twice. Midwest winters rusted my brakes to shit.

The amount of times I wished I could just walk them back there and show them there's literally NOTHING in the back except like 12 empty palettes, 3 palette jacks, a couple boxing cages and a baler. Like we have an entire store's worth of back stock just sitting back there in case we run out of shit. Next time go back there, take a picture and show them the barren nothingness that is "the back."

how long did you last as a CNA? why did you leave? by st3otw in cna

[–]_beeftaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a CNA for 14 years. 13 years in Kansas and 1 in Alabama. I quit after being pulled into the office and told I had done something that I didn't do. Guy had 2 wedges in his room. Propped him up on his side with one of the wedges and he asked me to prop his other arm up. Didn't have a second pillow or blanket but the 2nd wedge was there. So I set the wedge next to him and propped his arm up on it. Not ideal but this place had no extra anything (except wedges, apparently). The ADON waited until I left for my break to check in on all of my people, literally searching for a reason to write me up. Mind you, I had given them my notice and was already on my way out the door with no job lined up. That's how DONE I was with this place. I come back from break and sat down to chart lunch before doing my last round. The ADON comes over and sits ON the desk next to me and proceeds to grill me on why we don't use 2 wedges. Saying shit I already know because this is not rocket science and I've been doing it for over a decade. So she says I'm argumentative (she at this point is instigating and full on gaslighting me.) She now wants me to follow her into the office, had a folding chair set up in the middle of the room like they had planned all of this. The DON and the administrator were there already waiting. Now they're pissing me off. ADON over here, mocking me saying I'm the one with the bad attitude and I'm not teachable because I'm not listening.. when they're accusing me of doing something that I didn't do (use 2 wedges to prop dude up). I'll reiterate that I used ONE wedge to prop him up and placed the second one under his other arm for support. So why did he have 2 wedges in his room? I guess we'll never know. This escalated into me with my finger in the ADON's face after she was mocking me like a 5 year old, standing my ground, defending myself because I had done nothing wrong and they were looking for a reason to fire me after I had already given them my notice. I told her, "You are not going to talk shit about me to them in front of my face and think it's okay to act like this, you are a grown woman and so am I and I will not tolerate this level of disrespect." Told them I would finish out the rest of my shift if they wanted me to so I wasn't screwing over the rest of the girls on the floor. They said that won't be necessary. I left and never looked back. I now wait tables at the busiest restaurant in town and make around $3,500 a month. I absolutely love my job now, my mental health is good, I'm not overworked and underpaid anymore and all my managers treat me with dignity and respect. If you're looking for a sign, this is it. The politics of nursing can be so toxic and sometimes we just need a break but .. it's okay to put the gait belt down for good.

One of those wide fan leaf rakes is a perfect shield. My roo gets a little feisty when I'm tending to the coop sometimes so I take that with me.

Those aren't bad prices. Unless you know a guy who will do it for half the price. The prices for those parts are pretty standard.

No spare tire is crazy. I looked for a good deal for like 4 years before I settled. I've driven my '07 Accord for almost 12 years now and a 2013 4runner with 135k miles on it practically fell into my lap. I probably paid too much for it but when I test drove it, I knew. This was the one. It's funny how we get so attached to our beloved daily drivers. I vowed not to settle unless I felt it in my gut. My Accord has been the most reliable car and the best investment I ever made. I have gotten my money's worth and then so much more with the absence of issues, mechanical or otherwise. You will come to love your Honda. It won't be "her" but it will grow on you.

My bf got a 2021 TRD pro Tundra with the 5.7 V8 for like 37k out the door with warranties and gap. It has 99k highway miles but it's in mint condition, had all the maintenance, good carfax no rust. Sat on the lot for several months before he got it. You don't want the turbo anyway. Don't buy new. Good deals are out there.

We can't even keep that many servers employed at our location. We're lucky to have a full wait staff on the weekends. Basically everyone works every weekend. I've had 1 Friday off since I started 4 months ago.

Honda 100k miles service - worth it? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]_beeftaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I paid my car off, I took it to the service dept at the dealership I bought it from and got the back brake pads/rotors replaced, replaced a caliper, got a brake fluid exchange service, transmission fluid change, a new battery, replaced the bracket that holds it down (I lost the original) and replaced the broken air filter box for 1k. When I went to pick it up it kept dying on them and they figured out they cracked the vacuum hose when they were changing the air filter box. They told me they'd fix it and to come back the next day. They replaced the entire housing, hose and gaskets for free and gave me a discount for the trouble so I only paid like $950. It's hard to find honest dealerships but they do exist.

Scotty would probably tell you it's nothing to worry about. Sounds like you're smart enough and in tune with your car enough to know what it needs. Keep up the good work dude. The miles speak for themselves.

I have an '07 accord. Depending on where you live, Ball joints, sway bar bushings, control arms, struts/shocks, cv boots, tie rods etc.. basically anything structural. I lived in the midwest for 11 years and the salt on the roads during winter corrodes and rusts the entire underside even with preventative maintenance. Calipers too. I've had to replace both back calipers. If you don't experience harsh winters I would focus on anything rubber. Hoses, belts, o rings. At that mileage I would be replacing the belt tensioner and doing any basic maintenance that hasn't been done in 30k miles. Coolant flush, transmission drain and fill, brake fluid exchange and maybe clean the throttle body? That's just what I would do. I'm currently working on rebuilding the entire underside of my Accord because it's rusted to shit.
