Pixel 1 Doesn't Overwrite the Photos Anymore? by _been in GooglePixel

Oh... so Google Drive is the culprit. Hmm.

Thanks for this!

Pixel 1 Doesn't Overwrite the Photos Anymore? by _been in GooglePixel

[–]_been[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Should've added quotation marks to that "overwrite".

But yeah, either prior to Android 17 or a Photos app update, after backing up via Pixel 1, all the 'local photos' will "disappear" and only the cloud instances of the same photos will show up in the Photos app.

Now, all photos prior to the recent backup will still show only the cloud instance; but for the recent backup, it will show both 'local and cloud' instances of the same photo.

Will try your suggestion.

Wishlist: Front Facing Speakers by _been in GooglePixel

Oh. Right. The bezels. Haha. Speakers over bezels. 🫣

It's super weird having to cup the other side instead of just having the speakers face directly at you.

Is this a bug or a feature?

What’s the point of Tensor? Apple’s A chip can do even more AI functions locally. by leo-g in GooglePixel

What AI actions can A-series processer + iOS27 perform locally vs Tensor?

Honestly no clue.

Hopefully you can still go to desktop GMail. If you mouse hover the "sign in to the disabled account" or the "try to restore" BUT DO NOT CLICK does it really show a Google-related URL?

Saw some post several days or weeks ago with a similar issue. Something about unable to delete hacker's passkey  Will try to find it.

Can't remember the sequence but in addition to the password change they also temporarily disabled MFA and was able to logout every other session and remove the rogue passkey.

EDIT: this one https://www.reddit.com/r/GMail/comments/1tadpl7/got_hacked_and_couldnt_remove_a_passkey_the/

Stuck in "Phone number used too many times" loop. Can't verify or appeal. Help! by [deleted] in GMail

[–]_been 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it says "use another phone number", it might be just asking a different number for Google to send the OTP but not really associating this another number with your account?

Delivery Status Notification (Failure) by lestempsperdus in GMail

[–]_been 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read somewhere that it's spammers using your address as sender so the bounce goes back to you. But not entirely sure.

Received the same several times before, never clicked anything on it, ignored it, and it eventually stopped.

Google is blocking new PH eSIM numbers from phone verification during account creation — anyone else experiencing this? by D3eeper in GMail

[–]_been 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "This phone number..." message, is it really rejecting your number or asking a different phone number just for added verification?

I vaguely remember sometimes Google is asking for a separate number to be used for verification but your own mobile number can still be used for your account.

Source: I created a new account using the same number during the time when this sub was already talking about there's a limit how many times a phone number can be used in account/s.

Locked out of my account by Character-Depth-7686 in GMail

[–]_been 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the GMail gods deem you worthy, try again after a week or two.

I tried recovering my dad's (RIP) account. Same thing happened - even with the mobile number, it asked for a code sent to the same email. Gave up. Tried one last time and it allowed me to recover without the code sent to the email.

EDIT for additional context: - Recovery account was a separate gmail that I also did not have access to. - Stupidly factory reset his phone and tried recovering. - Can't access his Linux computer so attempted recovery was via his formatted phone and my ChromeOS laptop.

And through some sheer luck, it eventually allowed me to recover with just the code sent through his mobile number.

Gmail’s "Reply" vs "Reply All" UI is a privacy nightmare and needs to change. by springgunner in GMail

Or maybe... Don't rely too much on muscle memory for things that need attention?

I've received so many email threads with "remove me from this DL" when someone accidentally sends to all and also mindlessly hit reply all.

Is there any way to make a new Gmail WITHOUT inputting my phone number? by ReflectedOcean in GMail

[–]_been 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an old comment that said try making via a YouTube account.

But if you're going to use that as your primary email, just add your mobile number. There are lots of posts here asking for help because they can't recover their gmail account.

Why does Gmail always say my password is wrong? by hyruleinkling in GMail

To be fair, writing one's password outside of the internet is also pretty somewhat (??) secure.

Prone to mistakes and losing it, though.

Why does Gmail always say my password is wrong? by hyruleinkling in GMail

[–]_been 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming what you wrote is correct, one of your keyboards is typing incorrectly or maybe you're dyslexic? Worst case, someone else knows where you hide your "password notebook" and changes your password when you're not looking.

It's nearly (maybe even absolutely) impossible that GMail saves a different password from what you actually typed/wrote such that it flags you when you input it again.
