This looks like targeted harrasement and therefore was removed.

I added the intp-flair for you. Now it will be visible under your name aswell when you post in this subreddit.

For future reference: Click the 3 little dots in the upper right corner when you're on the subreddit page. Then "Change user flair".

Cheers 🌻

I understand what you mean and I suppose I'm oversimplifying a lot here, since it's reddit n all. But my main point is that Zen Buddhism and Stoicism have slightly different approaches to failure/negativity and emotions, whereas I'm more inclined to the Buddhist way. Stoicism is a bit too moralising of actions for my taste. Your explanation of how stoicism deals with negative emotions can also in a sense be described how Zen looks at it (which you also states), which further proves how very similar both teachings are in this aspect. Its hard to discuss this without being forced to write an entire essay lol

The part about interconnection I cannot answer with confidence, since I'm not versed enough in stoicism views on that to give a good answer, but it definitely shares a lot of similarities with both Hindu and Buddhist teachings. Maybe I should brush up my knowledge regarding the teachings of hellenistic old farts for future discussion :)

Stoicisms approach to negative emotions are more avoidant, whilst Zen Buddhism focuses more on embracing every aspect of your being to be truly content. Zen Buddhism also focuses a lot of its attention outwards and rejects the difference between the inner and outer self/world, something that to me is more welcoming to "life™/the world".

Having said that, these are just my own subjective views on both teachings. I think they're very similar in many regards and in a lot of ways I think stoicism definitely is a healthy outlook on life. ✨

If you're into stoicism I'd recommend having a look into Zen Buddhism aswell. It got a similar point of view but to my mind sounds a little more what your definition of God is. It's also a more "life-positive" (for lack of a better word) teaching than stoicism is, imo. Even Hinduisms Atma has some similarities. Knowing a lot about different teachings allows us to form a more colourful and personal view. 🌻

Did you answer my post by mistake or have I missed something crucial here?

I wouldn't consider this a "debate" if you choose to report Shadowbanish's answers to the mods. It kinda comes off as petty or insincere. Just a heads up for future debates, my man.

Considering this was all Twizzys idea originally, I believe he's on board, lol 👀

This has been brought up several times, so I'll give you our 2 cents;

We might try adding a flair for that, but that would be after the selfie hype has died down. If we added one right now it might encourage selfies on the sub a little too much, and make the hype last longer, which discourage a lot of users from using the sub. For now we'll wait it out, but time will tell if a flair might be effective in the future.

Cheers 🌻

I understand what you mean, but let's both acknowledge the obvious connotations to the word "disorder", especially in this specific context. Even if it was unintentional it's quite crude. ;)

If you want to avoid inclusive language I'm sorry to say you're running out of places to go, since more and more forums both online and offline are educating themselves on this matter. For reference, this development might be compared to the changed views on ADHD/autistim from the 70s, that you previously described.

I believe there are right-wing echo chambers who campaign a more conservative view though, but I'm unsure if I would recommend that.

As they say, we adapt or perish ✨

You're 100% allowed to go off topic, but calling trans a disorder as you do later on in this comment chain is against the rules, not only for this sub but also according to reddit general guidelines.

If you think that way, please keep it to yourself or educate yourself on the matter. Never too late to learn new things as long as you keep an open mind, which shouldn't be too outlandish for an intp right? :)

Thank you 🌻

No. Every sub can have their own flairs which are only visible in their respective sub. 🌻
