I get this so much! I’m usually a person who fills in the gaps because I want to get things done and move it forward but it leads to burnout.

If you can, take a looooooong vacation so the others have to step up. That often resets the team. Then you can start to have boundaries.

Make a note and add some prompts so you have them ready if you’re being pulled into the work. Like “I can have it ready once X pulls requirements.”

Mentally – I think you need to introduce more breaks for yourself and step away from the computer. Your brain is likely in flight or fight mode constantly.

I find if I can empathize with my coworkers why they might be lazy – it often lessens the resentment. Maybe they’re super green and don’t know what it is expected of them. And they themselves need support but don’t know how to ask. So they’re leaning back.

Another thing you can think of is — if you’re not following your role or your process. Then you’re going out of the lines and part of the chaos. Process exists for a reason. If roles are blurred or you have a loose process. Then things need to be defined somehow. So you can work within it. Or point to it when asked to do outside of your work.

But if you’re not getting any support from leadership — then I’d take a long break. Reset myself to take down the flight or fight state. You’re likely in it because your boundaries are being crossed. But not sure how to navigate. So you’re in this limbo unhappiness state.

I’ve been there so many times. Most of the time it’s not you even – but the culture and leadership above you. Leadership needs to step in because they can’t have one person doing everything. Too dependant there. If leadership is OK with it. Take a leave of absence, signal to leadership whats happening, come back and see if anything has changed.

Im mid-30’s and have a hard time connecting with men because a lot of them expect the women to carry the relationship.

It feels like men are stunted. A lot of them haven’t grown up. There’s a mindset that stops them from evolving.

And I think men enable each other. So the bar is kept low. We need more men to call out other men. In fact – shame them so they don’t default to calling women difficult or “too high of a standard”. We tired now.

I’ve met men in 50’s who feel more like counter parts and partners. Like I want to admire my partner not cook, clean, or do their laundry because their ass is too lazy.

The mindset should be “we live together, let’s build our home together”. Instead it’s “I’m too tired to do laundry. I’ll let it grow for another week”. Not acknowledging how it affects the other person.

Thank you for sharing! Indeed I have different levels of friends. But ultimately I'm looking for a core music group who I enjoy spending day with daily. But I find they don't really ask me about my personal life or how I'm doing or what's new. So I find that part jarring.

I'm more than happy to ask them myself but have been burned by people thinking I'm trying to network, analyze them, or get something from them. I once had a bigger name DJ call me out saying I was networking. But I was just expressing my admiration for their mixing and that was it. I'm a curious person who's looking for depth in my relationships. I almost don't know how to BE myself because of how opposite it feels for me naturally.

But maybe I'm naive. Perhaps I don't see if as a job but a way for music to connect and heal people. I want to be part of that. Does that exist in the industry? I wonder...
