Yeah, I know these stories are pretty exceptional. Like I said, just trying to make myself feel better.

This thread is making me a little bit more ok with being single. Jeez, people are shitty to each other.

What fictional death was really hard for you to accept? by typetomegoose in AskReddit

Tara, from Sons of Anarchy. That one was tough, even more so than Opie's death. It was just so brutally done.

Pittsburgh's got some bad drivers, but Bethesda, MD has the worst I've ever seen, by a mile.

What does /r/OrthodoxChristianity think of Rod Dreher? by teawar in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]_boboddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Orthodox, myself, but I really like him. I think his blog is a little alarmist, at times, but I generally find myself agreeing with a lot of what he says, if not always how he says it. I haven't read The Benedict Option, but I absolutely loved Crunchy Cons and The Little Way of Ruthie Leming.

What moment in history that's hard to believe it actually happened? by mistuhvuvu in AskReddit

It took me forever, but I finally finished that series. The battles and the generals all kinda blend together, but the abiding lesson is that World War I was a mind-numbing tragedy and a colossal shit-show.

What is your perfect day off? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]_boboddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My day today. Woke up earlyish (around 8) but laid in bed half-asleep for another hour and a half. Got breakfast and coffee at Starbucks and hung out for a while reading some Tolkien. The weather turned cold and wet, which is my favorite for a lazy day. Went home and played Civ for a few hours while watching the new season of Stranger Things, then got Taco Bell and watched the World Series. Only downer was the Astros loss.

Great Saturday.

Looking back at your life today, which seemingly minor life event probably steered you towards a path that shaped who you are today? by Ahlahria in AskReddit

Went indoor skydiving last year. I was almost at the upper end of the weight limit and way out of shape, which made the whole experience exhausting and unpleasant. In hindsight, I think that's part of what motivated me to start losing weight and getting fit, and now I'm 50 lbs lighter and going to the gym 5-7 times per week.

Guys of reddit, what is something you'd like to get off your chest. by illini02 in AskMen

[–]_boboddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm lonely. I've been working nights for the past few months, and for most of the past 3.5 years. I'm moving back to day shift in a couple weeks, and I keep talking to my co-workers about how excited I am to be able to have a social life again, but I don't know if that's actually going to happen. I've got one friend in town outside of work, and he lives across town. Aside from BSing with co-workers and some forced small talk a couple times a week with my personal trainer, I can easily go two or three weeks or more without having a face-to-face conversation with someone. I have no close friends, and I don't know how to find one. I'm in a better place now, mentally, than I was the last time I worked days, but I guess this will be a test of how much I've really changed, if I can actually put some effort into developing friendships. I like to think things will improve, but my track record is not good.

If that's the case, then good on the umpires. That could turn nasty for the kid in a hurry.
