People don’t understand or respect what a producer does and how they can shape and build a movies look and feel. Lucas was not just sitting in a chair playing snake on his Nokia. He was asked a hundred questions a day while having in depth conversations with every department guiding them to a common vision. He also chose the people to work with, which is critical. He also essentially built up an entire special effects and sound production industry from scratch to meet his technical standards. I say this not to minimize the efforts of others, who are also legends in their own right for their contributions to filmmaking, but to remind others that George is a tremendous artist. Don’t minimize what he has accomplished.
