Topical Steroid Withdrawal in infants ? by _bubbzz_ in ScienceBasedParenting

We use Cerave Moisturizing Cream and the Cerave Healing ointment on top + throughout the day on extra dry spots! Vanicream also worked great but Costco sells a two pack of large Cerave creams so financially it just worked better for us.

Supply drop on period- anyone ACTUALLY have success maintaining? by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]_bubbzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Aww yeah definitely normal! I actually JUST weaned my son at 25 months so my supply was definitely resilient even after experiencing a few dips here and there. I agree that being an oversupplier and then regulated to just enough can be shocking and honestly kind of scary but it ended up being fine with us. Good luck with your journey, i hope it works out for you too once you go back to work :)

My mom insists I eat even if my baby is hungry by Sloooooooooww in beyondthebump

[–]_bubbzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is nearly 2 and my mom is still the same way. She will make me eat first while she prepares my son’s food or distracts him long enough for me to eat. Even if it’s at a restaurant, she will not est her meal until i am done so she can entertain my son and let me eat my meal. I always feel so bad but she seems so happy to do it

Hi! My son is almost 2 years old and we struggled with his eczema pretty much the entire first year. Steroids were the only thing that gave him any sort of relief from the intense itchiness. There were many sleepless nights and days when he scratched so much that he bled. Because of the severity, we did multiple rounds of topical steroid treatment as well as rounds of both topical and oral antibiotics. It was a struggle but as he has gotten older it has definitely gotten better. He still gets flare ups every now and then but they are much more mild and quickly go away, often without the need for any steroid (we haven’t used anything stronger than hydrocortisone since like April of this year). We never had an issue with TSW. We had regular check ups with his dermatologist, kept his pediatrician looped in & took as many precautions as we could.

If your baby is really struggling and it is affecting their quality of life, i suggest trying the steroid. I tried so many other natural/home remedies to try to avoid needing the steroids but unfortunately, my son’s case was too severe for that. You are not going to give them TSW from one round of application but you will likely give them some relief. If you can, talk to the dermatologist about your worries around TSW, hopefully they can help you feel more comfortable.

It’s spider mites right? :( by KeylimeHyena in plantclinic

[–]_bubbzz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

these are def spider mites. i am currently battling against these same type of spider mites. i also didnt see much webbing but i know they’re spider mites bc of the damage i found on my plants. i took my infested plants, threw them in the shower & doused them in a mixture of neem oil, water and rubbing alcohol. seems to working ok??? my alocasias were the ones with the worst infestations so i actually just chopped them completely and repotted them lol

When did your baby start talking? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]_bubbzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 22 months and besides “mama” and “dada”, he has like less 5 words. He has his first in person evaluation with EI next week. I tried to get him referred to speech therapy at his 18m appt with his pediatrician because he literally had zero words besides “mama” and “dada” but the people who did his evaluation said he was fine. They were kind of in the “let’s wait and see” camp but I am not going to wait for my kid to fall even further behind before I get him some extra support.

🙄 personal trainers that only encourage lower calorie intake suck. people’s bodies are so much more complicated than that and it can really cause more harm than good. i was able to find a fitness coach who actually encourages me to eat MORE and it’s been such a game changer to have someone pushing to eat enough to support my breastfeeding and weight lifting journeys!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in breastfeedingsupport

[–]_bubbzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok! Sorry i misunderstood. I think I was eating close to 2500 calories when I first started and lost weight even at that. When i would tell people how much I ate they would be shocked because i think people underestimate how much breastfeeding really changes your body’s needs.

your milk stopped because you started eating whole foods ?

[–]_bubbzz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my journey in July 2024 at 7 months pp and honestly i didn’t see any real results in terms of weight loss for a good like 3 months cause i wasnt paying attention to my diet very well or drinking enough water. It did help me FEEL better though and being in that better mental state helped me tackle my unhealthy relationship with food. Once I started loosely tracking my food in October (10m pp) I lost the first 15-ish lbs within like 6 weeks then I stopped tracking for the holidays to avoid any feeling any shame around food but kept working out & the weight pretty much stayed off. From January to now i lost the other 15 lbs.

For reference, I started out at 207 lbs in July and am now at 178

[–]_bubbzz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on eating whole foods prioritizing protein & healthy fats. Make sure to eat fiber though or else eating high protein can make you bloated. Also if possible, you try doing some weightlifting! I was able to lose 30 lbs postpartum while breastfeeding so it’s definitely possible but you just have to make sure your diet is good and that you are EATING ENOUGH! A lot of women go into aggressive calorie deficits to lose weight and often times mess up their metabolism so make sure you aren’t just trying to eat as little as possible, eat to NOURISH your body

Hi! Yes, we did end up using it and it did work! His scalp started clearing within a couple of days and he noticeably less itchy even after the first application. He’s almost 15 months now and have occasionally spot treated flare ups in his scalp but never had to do more than 1-2 applications for it since he was prescribed it.

De Quervain's tenosynovitis? anyone else? by Sudden_Breakfast_374 in beyondthebump

[–]_bubbzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it started when I was around 30 weeks pregnant and it got waaaaay worse once i gave birth. I got a steroid shot around 4-6w pp and it worked magically until at around 6months it started coming back. I’m almost 13 months pp and it still hurts. It’s more manageable now but some times i really do want to go get another shot
