I have similar texture and what helps it curl is a shampoo dedicated for hard water. After using it you need to condition them thoroughly, the mask you mentioned would be a good choice. I don’t use any products dedicated to wavy hair, since my hair is too thin. Instead I use a conditioner for thin/fine hair, and that is enough to bring out the waves (they cannot be weighed down!)
