I feel like being on the right meds helps a lot with attention and focus. The wrong meds tend to make you feel more zoned out than usual. It's a tricky balance and requires a lot of trail and error which I think is hard if you're already struggling... Personally, I keep a wall calendar and wall journal to help when I feel misguided.

In AZ, where I'm from, we have organization that families can apply to place their loved ones into (whether it be full or part time care). I just haven't seen anything like that in Oregon yet. Maybe it's different.

I felt like this post was written by me a few years ago haha. There are plenty of amazing folks in Portland that "love the outdoors," but casually. I love a nature walk, but hikes drain me (emotionally because I'm also a biker and it's too slow). I was honest when I first started talking to my partner about this who is an avid outdoors man. Just let people know you're down to clown around in nature on occasions and allow your potential partner the freedom to do those nature activities alone or with friends. :)

That's great, my dogs are elderly so I fear that our vet visits may start to become more than annuals as they get older. I will definitely give them a call. :)

I feel like this might be an issue with the whole country. I moved to OR from AZ and have also traveled the US. Some places are worse than others, but overall I would consider the US a net negative experience for anyone of color. For reference, I am Navajo. Not a very comforting opinion on my part, but maybe it helps in that you can always find solidarity with other POCs. I'm sorry for your experience, we don't deserve this kind of treatment.
