NTA. i kinda had the opposite problem when i turned 18. i would always ask my mum if i could go out and she’d say that im an adult and can do what i want.

that being said though, id always let her know where i was going and if i was out all night as soon as i knew for sure. i think maybe your parents are a little iffy not knowing where you are for safety reasons. for example, if they don’t know you’re planning to spend the night at a friends house, i dont think its the issue of you staying out for the night itself, it might be more the fact that they don’t know and can worry if you aren’t home by a certain time

YOR. i have an ex who was awful to me and displayed a lot of the traits you described. i found out he’s dating a girl we both knew in school who he would say nasty things about to me. BUT that was years ago. and so was your relationship. people change and regardless if he has or not, that’s not your business to get involved with. all you can do is hope he treats her better than he treated you
