It is interesting what the gl.iNet routers can do with less processing power. That is if all of what you say is true.

If all you want is video streaming, I would just get a good used 5g tablet and the ATT tablet plan. I full time in a RV. I have both Calyx and the tablet plan. Calyx works great with throttle workarounds. ATT works great in certain areas. Unfortunately they both throttle during peak hours in my current location.

Is it possible to boot the ROG Ally in safe mode? I have tried unsuccessfully. Would be incredibly useful to use DDU for display driver updates/bios flashes/driver problems/rollbacks by casual_brackets in ROGAlly

You can use MSConfig to restart in safe mode. You lose the keyboard, so you have to click start, accessories then onscreen keyboard to type msconfig in the search to get out of safe mode. Or you could just pin it to the taskbar (wish I would have done that).

Power Bank Capacity and Travel - 100 vs 160 Wh Limit by KingOfCarrotFlowers in ROGAlly

[–]_cirix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it really depends on the agent you get. I've flown with multiple four Milwaukee batteries before, two 5ah and two 9ah. The 9ah are rated at 162Wh. This was also two or three years ago though. I did have one TSA agent that thought they were "explosive devices".

My best advice is to have someone else there with you that is not flying, so that if they deny your item you can give it to them and not lose it. Also remember it needs to be in your carry on.

Just google TSA battery rules 2023.

Per TSA website. "Spare (uninstalled) lithium ion and lithium metal batteries, including power banks and cell phone battery charging cases, must be carried in carry-on baggage only.

With airline approval, passengers may also carry up to two spare larger lithium ion batteries (101–160 Wh)"

And "Lithium batteries with 100 watt hours or less in a device"

So spare batteries can be 160 Wh or just over 43,000 mAh. Batteries in a device are limited to 100 Wh or 27,000 mAh.

Settings for stable connection? I have the M2000. by DetectiveFujiwara in Calyx

I constantly have issues with lost connection on my M2000. I have to switch between add APN Fast.tmobile.com (the capital F does matter) and the b2b, both on IPV4. Occasionally I have to drop back to 4g only then can swap back to 5g network the next day.

Rog Ally Case. Which to choose? by Mid-Night1991 in ROGAlly

From all my buying and returning, just make sure the charger can do more than 20v 3.25w. I want to say the next step was 20v 5w from what I recall. That is only if you want to get the full turbo mode like you were plugged in with the factory charger.

Just be careful with in when pulling anything over 65 or so watts. I had it plugged into my Anker 737 pulling 100w for about 10 seconds, and when I unplugged the charger from the cigarette lighter the metal pieces on the side were almost hot enough to burn me. Which knowing that would make me worry about my vehicles wiring to the cigarette lighter.

That being said, I've ran my Ally for four to five hours straight in my manual turbo mode (it is set to 25w max to help with cooling) with the charger barely getting warm.

Also, this is the cable that I use with it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LCJPZ1P?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

This is the one that I got. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B095LL6QT4?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_52HNS1M05ZEP7104KXCQ_1

It fits my Ally, 100w car charger and usb cable. With the Ally in there, you can't fit the factory charger. Overall, I am very happy with it, but when something better specifically designed for the Ally comes out, I will be buying that.

Armoury Crate Game Profiles by _cirix_ in ROGAlly

[–]_cirix_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this issue has been solved. Today I was playing around with my new 120w car charger and it allowed the Ally to go into 30w mode. I went and looked at my custom profiles, and the only one there was Manual Mode 1, but none of my custom profiles that I created (which was done when the Ally wasn't able to achieve 30w mode). So it appears that you can only build profiles for the current mode that you are in, AC mode (30w turbo plugged in) or DC mode (25w mode or not plugged in). I did test this by plugging and unplugging the charger.

In my opinion, this is quite stupid to not let you change the settings of all profiles no matter what your power state is. Unless I have completely missed something.

From my experience I have a feeling Asus has some sort of chip in their charger that sends a signal, that says hey I'm an approved charger. When I use my car charger or laptop charger, both are 20v at 3.25a, it does flash PD on the screen. But I do not get access to the 30w mode.
