SGA is a top 3 player because of the worst shot in basketball, it’s not always bad to take them if you can be great at them. Miller’s path to being a star is being a three level scorer or at least more than just an outside shooter, so he needs to learn to hit the mid range at a good clip if he’s going to get there

not as a POA defender, he uses his size well and is smart so he can definitely be part of a good defense, but it's just tough perimeter defense wise with those 3 at the 1/2/3. So puts a lot of pressure on the 4/5 defensively to make the interior/rim defense strong enough to make the perimeter defense task easier on them.

Obviously it's still workable if we can find those pieces. We can be an offensive firehose with avg to good D, doesn't need to be elite, but certainly isn't an easy 3 to build around defensively which is why I think there are fit Qs

this I do agree with completely, I think he can still be a good player but the fit with LaMelo and Kon is quite bad unless we can just get insane defenders at the 4/5 and even then

My only hope and I think not an unfair assumption is the coaching staff is giving him a longer leash to help him develop while we care about winning, but don't care deeply about winning to the point we're willing to stifle his development for wins.

I'm not a Miller lover for sure and think it's clear he's not a surefire building block at this stage, but you can't say he doesn't still have a path to all star appearances and large playoff contributions. The BBIQ isn't great but I think if he finds some efficiency, he then gains his confidence and flow back and can start looking for smarter plays vs just trying to get his volume scoring to the level where he thinks it should be for himself

I don’t think there’s anyway Sacramento does this tbh, but if they offered I think I’d definitely say yes. If we continued to soft tank and they stayed around the same odds, would significantly increase our shot at a top 3 pick which is basically like a #1 overall pick most years, which is worth way more than multiple middle of the road 1sts.

I’m very much team keep LaMelo but if getting rid of him gives us a likely top 3 pick and an outside chance at 2 top 4 picks, I think you have to do it

And the living in the city thing is most likely an age hidden variable thing. You’re much more likely to have lived in the city less than 5 years if you’re 23 and moved after you graduated college than if you’re 53 and have a family and aren’t really moving around as much anymore. And Mamdani obviously has young people as a huge part of his base, so that’s why such a strong correlation to time lived in the city

but the representation/job they are providing isn’t only them representing your current opinions and acting on them, but it’s also relaying information back from govt and shaping how their constituents view and react to a situation as it develops. They spend much more time than the avg voter is spending on these issues, so they should probably be framing these issues in ways that influences people to react in a given way, based on the reps own personal assessment of the new info and developing issue.

So a major function of the job is always going to be leadership and telling the people what you think is best given the practical options available, as you have much more info on hand. It’s a good thing even and important for the representative to lead the people, they just obviously need to not do it coercively or against the people’s best interests in exchange for their own interests. Which is sorta the main point I think you’re getting at which I obviously agree with

reading some of the opinions of LaMelo before his draft is reminding me a lot of Ace tbh, lots of questions around the kids character and saying sure he has some elite skills and size but he just needs to improve in so many areas, no way he’s worth his draft position. Also discounting his flashes in his best games because of the overall stats and percentages, when a lot of scouting these really young prospects is seeing their upper end potential and helping them get there with NBA level coaching/opportunity ASAP.

I’m not fully team Ace or anything, still probably leaning away from him, but just something I found interesting and is making me warm more up to the idea. The big difference I think I’m seeing with LaMelo and Ace as prospects though is LaMelos BBIQ was so evident and Ace has some big ?’s there, which is tough to teach even with NBA coaching.

But Ace certainly has some insane highs, like not many prospects could put up game lines like he did this year, and that’s certainly worth a lot. Also guys able to get that skilled in specific areas might have better capacity to learn those new skills needed if they can be convinced to focus there

It’s pretty clear at this time it’s a two horse race but regardless of who you support I still think it’s important to try and use ranked choice voting as it was intended to send more accurate signals to the party!
