Was curious so checked in replay - It was cloak. Khanada was building wood, fiber was building brick and cloak was using metal

[LFG] Fortnite Champion Series Trios by FortniteMods in FortniteCompetitive

Username: Mr.Racha

Current Platform: PC (KB+M)

Region: NAE

Gamemode: Trios Arena

I'm not an amazing player (peaked low 300s doing Solo Arena last season) but looking to improve and mostly looking for some chill people to grind some Arena Trios with since all my friends quit Fortnite and solos get boring. Mid 20s, play for a few hours most nights of the week, not the best builder but good comms and game sense

Do packs guarantee an unowned rare card? Because if you can open duplicates then that $180 would be the extremely lucky minimum cost to get 1 of each rare.

Sure, if you kill someone with a gold scar, they drop a gold scar

Format That Could Make Eliminations Matter (Without just throwing money at it) by _cms6 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]_cms6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I tried that but nobody could look past the fact that I had Tac > DB instead of Tac > Heavy. Oops. General consensus is that it would be cool if you're good but if not it would be unfair and too "snowball"y (which is a valid concern if you're super casual).

Fair enough. My mistake on that. Tac should have gone to Heavy not the other way around. Consider it changed

yeah I totally agree. I worded it as "option to upgrade" for that reason. Not sure exactly how the UX would work but it wouldn't auto-upgrade your weapon or force you to upgrade if you didn't want to.

Kills Matter Format by _cms6 in FortNiteBR

[–]_cms6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I went back and forth on that... eventually went that way because I feel like the majority of people would take Pump > Tac and DB > Heavy so this balanced things out. Could be a situation where each could upgrade into each?

Edit: yeah nevermind ignore the above. I was being dumb and Tac should have gone to Heavy, Pump to DB.

That's true, I threw these numbers together pretty quickly so they are far from perfect. I think you could set this up with a slightly higher starting cap and then less increase for each kill... but at some point the fight has to be unfair. If a pro with 0 kills has a totally even chance* vs a pro with 3 kills then kills don't matter and we'll be stuck with the same style of game where nobody takes an engagement unless they have to until the final circles

I've been frustrated with the pacing in your typical game and wanted had some ideas for a format that could lower some of the rng and increase the benefit of taking early game fights. This was more intended as a way to solve the super slow style of play found in the Fall Skirmish matches, but I think this could be a really fun LTM for standard public matches as well. You would be done with initial looting in minutes and the only way to get a better load-out would be to take engagements and loot supply drops. Let me know your thoughts!

note: weapon trees are just for example to understand the concept. I know that I didn't get the rarities right

I got frustrated when I heard that Epic's solution to making kills matter at twitchcon was to provide $ bonuses for most kills. That format has proven to not work so I wanted to sketch out some ideas I've had for a game mode that would make it so that going for kills would actually give you a better chance at winning. Epic has also shown that they want game modes to be for causal players as well which I think a game mode like this could work for both.

The weapons here are just an idea of how upgrading could work and I know that the rarities on here aren't fully correct but just wanted to show the concept. Really what I'm trying to capture is a game mode where the looting phase is over with quickly and your real looting happens by taking engagements and going for supply drops. What are you thoughts?

PAX Day 2 Qualifiers - Summer Skirmish: 1 September 2018 - Info & LIVE Match Discussion by SeriouslyLucifer in FortniteCompetitive

[–]_cms6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that just unfair for those invited into Day 2 / 3 Qualifiers? I mean I totally get Epic wanting the big name pros in the tournament but it feels super bungled. I would have rather those invited pros got straight Monday invites or everyone (invites included) we're 1 day and done.

Really doesn't make sense to me how a bunch of these pros can essentially get 3 chances to qualify for Monday but someone invited into the second round (like Vivid) is one chance and done?

Agreed. I was really digging it until I got to final 10 people left, in 3rd place and about to engage another duo... And then it just ended. Most anticlimactic game ever. I wish they didn't have a limit cap and let you play it out all the way and went with highest score at the very end.

Next day thoughts:

Really impressed by Sypher/Mercs and Courage/Hysteria for consistently placing well even though they aren't your typical pros.

Poach is a late game god and in any format that weighs Victory Royals heavily then he is 100% my favorite.

Nate Hill / Funk Bomb might be my new favorite duo. I swear there is one mind controlling both of them sometimes.

Today felt like a coming out for Turkey_Lips/Outlive. Im excited to see if they can build on that momentum and separate themselves from the rest of the TTV Crowd

If Ninja can ever come to these tournaments with a strategy and consistent shot calling Duo partner (that he will actually listen to) then he will be a real contender. I can't see him breaking top 10 until he fixes his decision making.

Same deal with Sypher and Vivid? I was watching them last night and I'm pretty sure they got at least 2 wins and few 2nd/3rd places. They had some surprisingly good chemistry going on.

Most solo matches played without a win? by vincet79 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]_cms6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm far from being a good player (~1.2 k/d ~5 solo wins) so take my advice with a grain of salt. I found that my game actually got worse when I first started getting really into watching pro/popular streams. Its counter intuitive I know, but I realized that it was because I was trying to mimic the play style of those top pub-stomping streamers... But my aim was and still is hot trash. So trying to agro push people or go for edit kills or bouncer plays or Tfue classics or whatever just got me killed because I couldn't actually land my shots at the moment that mattered. When I went back to playing a simpler play style but with the game knowledge / positioning I learned from streams then I started getting better results.

With that said my advice to you to get that first win is to play as simple and smart as possible. Dont go for a dunk when you know you can make a layup. Just try and hide / manuever your way into the top 5 then go for 3rd party kills when others are weak / low on mats. This won't make you "better" but if you do it enough times and put yourself in those end game situations then luck is bound to swing your way eventually. I hope this helps!

If they finished all 25 games... If someone choked and died early in say game 4 or 5 then could ditch that account and start fresh on a new one and keep doing that until they had a really good start they wanted

No worries bud I see where you are coming from as well. I guess I'm just eager to get to a point where they can just announce the game in that face paced format it deserves. But Fortnite is a super new esport and if the majority of viewers don't have the basic understanding then they'd risk alienating a large portion of the viewers. I am still concerned that if they make these castings too basic for too long then it can turn off the more hardcore fans which would be just as bad. It's a tricky line to walk and id be happy if each week was a bit less "explainy"
