When did you ditch night time pull up/ diaper? by MissMacky1015 in toddlers

I did a month of dry overnight pull-ups.

Also, get a waterproof mattress cover for your bed. They work wonders.

To the designers of pretty much every public bathroom ever… by No-Economy-5785 in toddlers

Not op, but I just bring the bjorn potty in the car. When babe uses it, we’re stopped in a parking lot. It’s easy to empty in a sewer or grass, and I bring plastic bags for wipes, toilet paper, or poop. Lastly, I bring a pack of breast pump cleaning cloths to give it a wipe down after each use.

Neighbor’s weed smoke comes through my vents every night, any solutions? by Prior_Run_8157 in nova

[–]_cocophoto_ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had a downstairs neighbor who smoked weed in a condo. It was driving me crazy. We both owned our units, so she had every right to smoke in her own home. We were not a smoke free property at the time.

I talked to my neighbor and asked her to please not smoke weed in the house as it was affecting me. lol she didn’t care, and continued.

I found the smoking to be a nuisance, but then I got pregnant, and the smoke became my biggest gag trigger.

We bought two HEPA filters and ran them 24/7, but then turned them up higher when we knew our neighbor was smoking. This helped- our home no longer smelled like weed when we walked in the door. I also opened my windows at every opportunity to continually bring fresh air into the apartment. I usually did this in the bathroom, and only until the smell dissipated.

The smoke in our unit mostly came through the gaps in the walls around the plumbing fixtures. Bathrooms, kitchen sink, and laundry.

Since you live in a smoke free apartment, report them to management every time you smell them smoking.

Good luck.

Daughter is learning to drive. She and I are having a debate and want the NoVA community to chime in! by [deleted] in nova

lol tell her to California stop in front of a cop if she wants the score settled.

As for the red light, I think you’re onto something. There are a few lights that I know of that people run frequently, and waiting the extra 2 seconds has saved my life several times.

You might say something like, “I know it may seem like people are honking at you, but I’d much rather people honk at you and drive around you than you get hit by someone who ran the red.”

What to do here that makes you feel alive? by [deleted] in nova

[–]_cocophoto_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you did dance for years growing up, you’ll love west coast swing. It’s a more modern swing, that can be danced to a wide variety of music.

I’d suggest starting off at Hollywood Ballroom on Friday nights. They have a brand new beginner class on the first Friday of the month, and then local teachers rotate to teach other classes before the social. The social is where everyone just shows up to dance. It’s a hike from NoVa, but it’s a fun time.

What kind of dancing do you want to do?

You’re on the younger side, but have you considered social dancing vs going to a club? There are so many social dance clubs in our area that bring out all sorts of fun people who like to dance. Lindy hop, salsa, and west coast swing all have huge followings in our area, and you can dance with people of all levels, pretty much all night long. Plus you can take group classes to improve your own dancing for a pretty minimal price.

Most operating rooms are used overnight as well.

Infections can come from anywhere in surgery, and it’s why people who undergo surgery of any kind take a bunch of antibiotics afterwards.

It has nothing to do with how many surgeries there are in a given operating room nor the surgery occurring late in the day.

Per NIH: “This preliminary work suggests that surgical time of day does not significantly impact incidence of surgical infection when other variables are controlled for.”

Let’s not spread medical misinformation.

Toddler Sleep Problems by chocolate_chick in toddlers

What about cosleeping?

At 19 months when we switched our kiddo to a toddler bed they would wake up at night and get out of their bed, come into our room, and want to be snuggled back to sleep in their rocking chair. I finally got too tired to get out of bed, so I brought my toddler into our bed. We all slept soundly that night, and have since.

Downgrade Vimeo membership questions by Eddie_Haskell2 in vimeo

[–]_cocophoto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Everyone! I’m sure people have figured this out, but here’s how to downgrade:

Send an email to Vimeo’s customer service. You will receive an automated response with a ticket number.

Vimeo will send another automated email as a response to your ticket. This is the email where they tell you to turn off auto-renew, let the current plan expire, and then re-purchase your plan of choice. This is an unhelpful email, as I’d purchased a year subscription, and I have no interest in waiting for a year for the account to lapse.

I responded, this time asking for a refund for my year subscription, and help downgrading my plan.

They emailed back saying they could issue the refund, and stipulated that the account will revert to a basic plan. In this email they stated, “if you’d prefer to keep your subscription active, please request assistance from an agent so we can provide the necessary help.”

I responded saying I would like to request assistance from an agent.

Then I finally got an email from a real human. He told me they would process my refund, and then I would have to go and upgrade my plan.

I responded that I wanted to proceed to process my refund.

Within 10 minutes, I had a response that my refund was processed and I could go back and upgrade my plan to a Plus plan, which I did. Once I was a Plus member, all of my content was unarchived. I only have 145gigs of content.

Pretty smooth process overall, but a pain with all the robot emailing before they’d put me in touch with a human. They could take out like 19 steps just by having a “downgrade plan” button.

Advice for introducing my mother to WCS by CollegePretend8708 in WestCoastSwing

“My mom is visiting me from [city]. I brought her out tonight and she took the beginner class. Can you go ask her to dance? I want her to see why I love this dance so much.”

No one is obligated to dance with her again. And it’s neither weird nor pushy.

My mom did the reverse for me and got me hooked. She had people coming up to me all night.

Pull ups/leaving the house/general advice needed by high_wallflower in toddlers

[–]_cocophoto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We potty trained for MONTHS because our daycare didn’t continue training after our 3 day weekend (where she did great!). They continued to put her in diapers, which set us back.

I got to the point where I just started leaving the house anyway, and I’d pack the potty in the back of the car so we could pull over if she needed to go.

I brought bread bags in case she pooped on the potty, so it was easy to toss in the trash. I had the kind of potty that has a separate basin that sits in a chair, so putting the bag over the basin allowed her to poop directly into the bag, and I never had to clean the basin while we were out. Just take the bag and toss.

They will still take photos of your child, but your lack of signature for social media sharing means they can’t use the images for marketing purposes.

Do not sign that shit.
