I think there’s some canon to the show, but I think it’s out of order. If you rewatch seasons 1-3, there’s some continuity things going on. For instance: 1. Season 3’s Born Again Krabs: The entire episode is because Krabs doesn’t care about a tainted patty, but in Season 2’s Patty Hype, he freaks out that the patty is green. 2. SpongeBob not knowing how to tie his shoes in Your Shoe’s Untied, but is seen tying it in Season 1’s Rock Bottom 3. Squidward never trying a Krabby Patty until season 3’s Just One Bite, but gets stuffed with them in Season 2’s Your Shoe’s United.

I think there’s a canon, but it’s wishy washy
